It’s good to see Johnny got another shot to be a head coach in division 1 basketball. I wish him all the luck.

Feel sorry for those players.
Jones has zero business coaching.

Are we supposed to know what TSU stands for?

Probably a paycut
Probably wanted to get closer to home and he does know the TX area well

He'll probably forget to but it will be fun to see if he calls any time outs to join the crowd and tell the team 'offense...offense...offense...' and then sometimes 'defense...defense...defense...'. Shoot, even mix up a bit ('offense...defense...offense...') to catch the guys off-guard and shake things up.

Good for him. No reason to wish him anything but success. That said, thank Jesus he’s nowhere near our program anymore

Good for him.
I don't think anyone should have any personal animosity towards Jones. He was a good guy and proud alum. He had limitations as a HC and never should have gotten the LSU job in the first place. But I blame Alleva for that, not necessarily Jones.
The SWAC is a good spot for him. He his still a solid recruiter and knows Texas (particularly Houston/Dallas). No program in that league is particularly "well coached", so his coaching limitations are probably minimized. He could have similar success as the coach he is replacing, Mike Davis. The stage was far too big for Davis at Indiana. He had decent success at UAB before being let go, then did fairly well at TSU.
Jones was in over his head at LSU. That doesn't mean he isn't still a part of the LSU family, nor that he can't have success at a program where he is better suited.

He can probably do well there. No pressure and can probably recruit some decent players for a SWAC level team. Hope he does well he just wasn’t cut out to be a major programs head coach

JJ always had SWAC and I don't mean SWAG!
He was always that kind of coach, and certainly never an SEC caliber HC.
I wish him well, but as for Dale Brown's cabal and what they have wrought upon LSU, probation and undermining, I am glad to be rid of this group.
Dale Brown and his Court Jesters, how appropriate!!!

Isn't Haywood the TSU head football coach a former LSU coach as well?

Ok, I'll do it:
"They got the best coach out there, who was right under our noses. This is his dream job. He always wanted this opportunity. I know he has a bad record, but he has CHANGED! He's no longer the same man! He'll bring championships to er, uh...TSU!"

Good lick to a former tiger! He is perfect fit for non-power 5 schools and as an assistant for bigger programs

The SWAC is the level of basketball he should be coaching. He has no business being a major college basketball head coach.

He’s had SWAC written all over him since day 1.

Good for Coach Jones. I didnt enjoy his tenure very much at LSU, but I wouldn’t wish against him being able to continue his career and support his family. Best of luck to him.
