Why does the whole band not travel to away games anymore?
I have not seen the whole band at a regular season away game in the last couple of years.

I first became aware of the problem during the game at Florida. No LSU fans there in Gainesville was compensated for by little or no sound from the Golden Band of Tigerland.

Money and more tickets for fans. No school brings the whole band on every road trip anymore.

Probably, but I'd put money on it that a majority go to at least one road game as a full band.

They do every year. They take the full band for any postseason game and one regular season away game. Last year was BYU and I'd assume this year will be Miami. The only exception was Wisconsin in 2016 bc it was too expensive to fly the full band so they just doubled the amount they normally take to fly.

Because travel is expensive as shite...this was one of the things that got the axe after the 08 recession and hasn’t come back.

Money, tickets, and the fact that universities are not allowing full bands to come for bigger games. Remember when we tried to have those stupid halftime concerts that prevented full bands of opposing teams from visiting?

The whole band goes to one away game per regular season plus the bowl game (and SECCG is we go). It has been that way for more than a decade.
Given that we cannot sell out any away game allotment anymore and have reduced our own visitors allotment to 6K, the presence of visiting fans in SEC stadia is waning fast.

Yeah not to mention we lost Troy week before and there was a storm possibly coming our way so was low turnout and the small TB was far away from where the LSU section was. I went though and drove from Orlando and back after had pretty good time in O!
