Look at the size of those wainers!
couple things. how did you get $50 off and how's it working so far? Living up to your liking?

It’s on sale this weekend.
Yea so far I’m really like it it. Smoked some ribs, then kicked the heat up and cooking some chicken and veggies.

Learn where the vent needs to be for particular temps. For 225 both upper and lower need to be just about closed (at least on mine). Maybe open 1/8” to 1/4”.

Good looking set up. How much was it with the $50 off?

Not bad at all. That’s half the cost of a BGE in the same size with the same accessories.

Oh yea. It’s a great deal for sure. I couldn’t drop the cash for the BGE so when I saw this one was on sale this weekend I had to go ahead and scoop it up.

Did your husband lift it in the crate by himself?
Just jokes
Very nice set up. Are the sides that fold up plastic or wood?

I think my dad is going to get one of these because they have the propane insert.
I have a bge and they are nice, but propane is just so quick and easy sometimes.

They are wood.
Lol went ahead and pulled my trailer to sams too. I knew I’d be all on my own and didn’t want to have to man handle that heavy bitch out my truck with no help.

I helped move a bge full of ashes and grease once. I thought the other dude wasnt lifting but they are just that heavy

FYI:
They are much easier to maneuver once you remove all of the ceramic liner pieces on the interior. Get it down to just the egg and it is doable for a full grown baw.

Take care of that tree you got growing in your patio.

I've read that they're awesome, but that the lower vent doesn't seal well making it hard to get lower temps. Here's a YouTube link with what one guy came up with a fix, and the second link is a detailed review from a BGE owner where the reviewer talks about a different solution.

Two years ago I got one and was waiting on a guy at Sams that was suppose to help me load. I got tired of waiting and lifted it on the truck bed myself. I hurt my shoulder and it still gives me problems.
I really like mine. The “felt” gasket finally gave out. Going to replace with the silicon version.
I rigged a Tip Top Temp on it for long cooks and has help with stabilizing the temp.

So far so good for my grill. My first time using lump charcoal wasn’t sure how much to use, and did have to end up adding a little more towards the end of my cook, however I threw on a slab of ribs and smoked them for about 4 hours and towards the end I kicked the head up and did 6 chicken breast, some sausage and elk burgers on “grill” setting, then when all that came off I kicked the heat up a little more and threw on some zucchini, onions, sweet potatoes, and mushrooms and it all came out great. Im sold on the Komodo grill style.

Is this the one with the gas grill insert? If so anyone use it and have a review of it?

Before a smoke, I always just fill it up as much as possible (BGE that is). I can't just set my vent to a certain opening though. Each cook is slightly different. Depends on the type of lump, how it's compacted in there, etc.. All affects the air flow, so it's always a little different.
My suggestion is to get a ThermoPro TP08. Got mine for ~$40 off of amazon. Wireless temp for pit and meat. Takes about an hour to get the temp to settle in once the meat's on there, but after that, it's literally just a safety net in case the temps start to go out of range. It's not quite the same as a real smoke, but it's just so damned easy.
