If team rankings don't mean anything, then neither do individual rankings. One follows the other.
No, dummy. This is my point.
Ranking classes the way they do, a team with 25 3 stars can be ranked ahead of a team with 15 4 stars and a couple 3 stars.

I see us adding a couple of more 5 stars and a few 4 stars-average will go up much higher
Quite possible, excited to see the outcome. I definitely think some of our 4 stars could be bumped up a bit.

This really is the point.
The average player score is much more telling and accurate.
It’s amazing how many fans are so quick to demand silence and happiness from anyone making a VALID point about this class.
It’s been a ioooong time since I saw LSU fans celebrate commitments just on the basis of the commitment and not the quality of the commitment...times they are a changin. Or perhaps already changed enough to the point of celebrating a coach of this caliber’s most mediocre accomplishments.
I find your info to be the more relevant info, as opposed to #3 class without looking deeper.
These offers and consequent commitments do have me concerned for our ability to win SEC championships.

No other team has a kicker and long snapper figured in their average. Why don’t you calculate the average of the top 10 for each class
Posted on 6/24/18 at 6:02 pm to TchPowDog
In 2016, we ended up with one of the best averages we’ve ever had but the #7 class and this argument didn’t fly at all funny how people spin the narrative to have this progress and ranking appear to suck

Backatcha dummy. My point is if you attack team rankings, then you should also attack individual rankings.
A three star now might become a five star later, and vice versa.

Take away the kicker and long snapper and it’s 91.1 so the thread is irrelevant

Not completely. We have a kicker that on some services is the #2 kicker in the country but bc he's a kicker, he's a 2 star. Same goes with the LS commit who is a 2 star. We have the #6 OC in the country and he's a mid 3 star. If he's an OG #6 he would be a mid 4 star. So all 3 players are a drag on the rating, but they fill positions of need and provide value. That being said we have 2 5 stars (1 of 3 teams with 2 or more) and 6 4 stars. At CB they got commits from some 3 stars even though they likely could have locked up a high 4 star player this weekend, but the coaches actually liked the others better. I suppose Aranda, Raymond and Busch know what they want.
At the end of the day the question is did you meet your team needs and get quality players that will make the team better. I like what I've seen so far, but there are some big fish still out there so it's still a long way to go. I would also expect some players to drop off and others to take their place. The good news is in most cases it looks like we have a shot at upgrades for those that drop. We shall see.

We will see how it plays out on the field. I’m cautiously optimistic.

I agree with this 100%. That's why I said I think team needs should be factored into class rankings. If it was based on average player rating and team needs, recruiting rankings would be much more accurate. Obviously, that's assuming the player ratings are accurate as well - so you would want to use a composite player rating.

I care about filling needs and the particular talent we place in those needs. Recruiting rankings mean very little when it's said and done. Right now, they mean NOTHING
Like the elite talent we just added at cornerback which we desperately need ? Shut up and quit bitching .

Rank Team Average Player Rating
Those average ratings are going to change when teams fill out their classes to 25 players. This isn't a top 3 class but I'm sure it will be top 10

Overall talent at LSU has been fine for years.
Unbalanced talent has been a bigger issue. Voids in the trenches, at times at Lber, and poor QB recruiting/development have held LSU back.
LSU has gotten better in all 3 areas in past 2 years. Missing completely at CB last year has been O’s biggest slip up to date in recruiting. That criticism is valid, but he’s addressing it.
