Do that in the big ring

It is entirely up to everyone not name Tom Dumoulin to attack. Courses don’t make the races riders do.
Outside of a 300m attack by Martin that was never going to work nobody even tried anything.
Valverde was close to losing touch otherwise you’d like to think he would have done something but he wouldn’t have.
Bardet and Nibali(who I always hear as a great descender but can’t think of any attacks he’s made on a descent) are the guys who have missed their opportunity.
Bardet especially as he needs to make around 7 minutes on Froome and can’t be choosy

If everyone did this stage on a single speed, it would be more entertaining than today! LOL

Tomorrow will be entertaining for sure, since it's a shorter stage. I expect a lot of attacks.
The minute Froome takes the yellow, the rest of the Tour will be boring.
I actually wanna see he and Thomas fight

I did hear some of the riders say that they wanted to attack but the headwind made them decide against it. They’ll wait because nobody wants to give up their place. Such sad shite...once Sky gets hold of the tour, it’s over. Get them on the defensive...and I’m talking about anyone that’s not Sky.

Everyone is worried about tomorrow's stage and Alp D'huez. With those stages looming I think that is why we saw the neutralization of today

Yeah, but the problem is we say this same shite every year. I bet I can pull up the thread from last year and see a post just like that. "they're just waiting to get him on stage xx"
Last time someone actually put Froome in difficulty, Quintana a couple of years ago, it was too late and he was already far behind before that stage win.

Dan Martin still set the record for the Columbiere into a head wind. It was impossible to attack because there were 4 Skybots on the front riding 400 watts. Anyone attacking was on a suicide mission. Boring.

Sky is good but it makes the racing so predictable and boring. Maybe a cap on salary is one option to slow this trend. I’m not really sure what the UCI and cycling do to handle this yearly problem at the Tour. One team controlling the entire peloton each and every day that matters is impressive, but doesn’t attract any new fans. It’s stale at this point. Hell, I hate to say this, but give me the EPO jet fueled days! I knew I was watching a clown show, but at.least the racing was exciting and I still remember a lot of those stages. Btw...this isn’t a
pro-doping stance.

I think what people don't want to admit is that winning the GC is fricking hard. You have to be an elite climber and an elite time trialist, and there are simply too few of those. So what we have are a bunch of guys that are playing for a podium finish and hoping Froome crashes out, because they know they're going to lose 1'30" to him in the ITT or whatever.
I remember when riders first thought they could challenge USPS solo, and learned a hard lesson when Hincapie, Heras, Hamilton and company would just chew them up and spit them out.

damn... Froome descending at nearly 60 MPH coming down the last mountain today while the leaders were doing less than 40 MPH

I found this image on another site. It shows the times of the GC guys up the last climb this year compared to the last two times this climb was in the Tour. I, like everyone else, want to see attacks, but you can see why it's so difficult when Sky starts setting the pace up climbs.

If there is going to be a boring day on three straight Alpine stages, it's likely to be the first.
La Rosiere is the stage I've been most looking forward to for the 2018 Tour. It's the first time they've ever finished there, and the course is set up for some great racing. The two big climbs on the last mountain (9.2% and 9.1% grade) comes with 8 and 5 km to go, then it finishes at about a 5% grade the rest of the way. If someone can get free, they can open up a pretty big gap over those last 3-4 km.

As soon as Martin attacked the sky train went from 5 to 3, given we’ve yet to see Thomas help Froome you could say they were down to 1.
I don’t think this team is peak sky, certainly not the Rogers/Porte/Froome combo that Wiggins had. Movistar can and should break them if they use their cards right, which they probably won’t.

I think today is the day we see Froome crack. Doing the Giro, I just feel like he's not going to have the legs this Tour. I think he gets exposed as a non-contender in this year's tour on today's stage.

I would say the opposite
I think he try’s to put it to bed in this block
Again today though, people will moan about not being able to attack but why is no team trying to make this stage hard? Instead of just letting Luke Rowe take them over half the course
