I personally enjoyed last season and post season immensely..loved seeing Stros finally win it all.

Like seeing NY, Chi, and LA back with elite teams. I'm a Phanatic, thus love seeing my Phils rebooted on the path back(even better when the Braves are a good team as a rivalry)..

I must admit that I watch much more MLB Network pre and post game coverage than do the actual games.

And even when do view games, more often than not watch it as background noise unlike NFL/NCAA with a focus.

This USA Today article is sort of damning, and partially explains why many millennials aren't into MLB like NFL/NBA..

USA Today - MLB has a bad baseball problem

Over the last 25 years, the Brewers had 13 consecutive losing seasons, the Reds had nine consecutive losing seasons, the Orioles had 14 consecutive losing seasons, and the Pirates had 20 consecutive losing seasons. Why would anybody expect millennials from those cities to be enthusiastic about baseball? All they saw growing up was terrible baseball and those cities lost an entire generation of baseball fans. And to be honest, most of those people aren't ever coming back. Baseball fricked up big time when they let the disparity between the haves and have-nots spiral out of control the way that it did.

The SO statistics and amount of everyday players hitting below .200 numbers in the article, are alarming.

And probably why the NL DH debate is on the discussion table again? Now being hinted that it may well happen in the next five years?

Baseball sucks. It is time consuming to watch and full of stiff, unathletic white guys.

I think we all know attendance will only continue getting worse for all sports with Tv contracts and improved home entertainment. MLB is doing a better job with fan experience. But I don’t live near a MLB team and I do enjoy baseball. So I try to watch what I can..
What I cannot get is their blackout policy. I paid for subscription and can’t seem to watch any game I want. Therefore I’ve lost interest more and more each year.
ETA: As far as the game. Speeding it up would help tv. But having a slower game while at the park is better. Imo

There is definitely a problem right now with the league, to what extent they go to fix it idk.

I have had very little interest. If you're not contending to win the World Series you are tanking. Not a lot of parity as a result. The bottom half of the league is doing really really bad when it comes to attendance, general interest, and viewership which is not good for the league.

Too many games and too long per game for most fans of those teams to sit and watch bad baseball for 3.5 hours almost every night.

I agree, and was encouraged when the small market teams regained a footing over the last 10 yrs, capped by KC's model. And the signing bonuses for lower slotted kids.

And despite Seattle and Mil contending this year..

The haves still far outpace the have nots, and keep accumulating their best in trades and off season signings.

I won’t disagree with this at all.

But how the hell does this not impact the NBA? Talk about a league with no parity. Are fans really amped up to see their team snag an 8 seed and get swept in the first round?

Compared to the sports landscape, baseball is pretty good in terms of parity.

NYY started the year 9-9, and are on a tear like the Dodgers and Tribe did last year. Reeled in Boston's 17-2 start by the All-Star break.

Houston is punishing the bad teams they've had in front of them in recent weeks.

Dodgers winning with their entire staff rotating on/off the DL..

I find MLB interesting regardless of the fluctuating situations and states of the game..just wish the have nots contended more regularly.

Pitch clock. Worthless. That’s what the home plate ump gets paid to do.
If the pitcher is ready to go and the ump, pitch if the batter isn’t in the box STRIKE.
If the batter is in the box and the ump is ready, BALL.
Watch how fast players adjust.

suggesting games be reduced to seven innings.

This is too stupid to comment on.

The NBA lol. Let me guess who’s going to the Finals next year. Too predictable. And baseball will never match the speed of the NBA. Horrible comparison. It’s almost like they are two totally different sports.

Very few goals are scored in Soccer, which I hate, but at least it would be a better comparison.

League is fine, teams like Arizona, Houston, Cleveland, Minnesota, Braves, Phillies, Brewers, Cubs, Colorado, San Fran all technically in contention.

I understand being annoyed with Yankees, Sox, and Dodgers but they have plenty of parity. Probably same amount of teams have playoff hopes as NFL/NBA at midseason

Soccer matches have a time limit though. Baseball games can last upwards of 4 hours. Soccer match is only at a maximum going 120 minutes.

This just seems like a dumb way to do stuff when you could just implement a Pitch clock that gives both the pitcher and batter ample time to get ready

Football and basketball can last 4 hours, in fact baseball is actually shorter on average than football I believe.
