Help Get Johnny Robinson (former Tiger) into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

This crossed our inbox today...he was before my time, but Johnny Robinson was a stud safety on LSU's national championship team in 1958, and drafted in the first round of the AFL and NFL drafts (No. 3 overall pick in the NFL draft). The AFL and NFL operated as separate leagues until 1970.
Here is a chance for you to support a former Tiger's effort to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame...see link below...The hope is to get 5000 signatures – they currently sit at about 2,000.

Hello All,
The petition supporting Johnny Robinson for the Pro Football Hall of Fame is starting to gain momentum. We have spread it throughout Facebook and Twitter, posted to Chiefs fan sites, and are reaching out to Johnny's high school alumni group. Dale Stram is connecting us with Kansas City media, and people at LSU. But we still need your help.
Please take a moment to sign the petition, and share this email or link itself with others. This would be a tremendous honor for a very deserving candidate. Heck, even former Raiders Wayne Hawkins and Gus Otto have signed! Love from the enemy!
On a related note, I was interviewed recently by three members of the Hall of Fame voting committee. We spoke about how the AFL in general has been overlooked, and in addition to Johnny, there are many more deserving candidates - Fred Arbanas, Otis Taylor, Ed Budde and Jim Tyrer, just to name a handful of your teammates. I am hopeful that this campaign for Johnny Robinson will start the ball rolling on the AFL as a whole, and we begin to see many more AFL'ers inducted.
So please take a moment to sign the petition and share wherever you can!

First off I have no connection but I was talking to one of the Board members in Canton a few years back about this same subject of Robinson.

Johnny's mom and my mom worked together while he was at LSU. He was my favorite player on that team and I used to cut out his action pictures from the "Morning Advocate" and keep them in a scrapbook of LSU football. I wish I had not lost track of that book.

AFL All Time Team says it all
I saw Johnny in 1958 as an 12 yo kid. Followed Johnny and Billy faithfully in the AFL.
Johnny was an awesome Safety. Cover and sure tackler. Read the field well, which made him a ball hawk. Great hands. Could have been a really good receiver.
Give Johnny his due.

Johnny and my dad were together in the National Guard at Lackland near San Antonio in the early 60's.

Johnny Robinson might be the one of the most underrated players in pro football history. Maybe it was because he wasn't flashy. Maybe it was because he played in a small market in Kansas City/St. Louis. Maybe it was because he didn't engage much or at all with the Madison Avenue advertising circuit. Maybe it was because he was overshadowed on that legendary defensive unit by legends like Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan, and Bobby Bell, hell Ernie "Big Cat" Ladd played on that squad man. When it came to credit distribution for that franchise, maybe it wasn't equitable to him from that all-time perspective but dude balled and was consistent and should be acknowledged accordingly.
