People rant over sheepshead but they don't do it for me they have a distinct strong flavor very little meat on them and a large portion of that has bloodline it

For freshwater its goggleye. I can pick out the goggleye from a mess of bluegill/chinquapin every time. They are mushier and almost taste muddy

lobster. You can not eat it without dipping it in something like melted butter. Has no flavor and chewy

Alligator meat is another one. Had it prepared many ways but it's always chewy and if you get a piece of fat in there it will turn your stomach

I agree with lobster and sometimes alligator, but I order alligator often and find it can be very good sometimes.

I don't know that I can tell the difference between goggle eye and everything else.

I've come to really like sheepshead though. I keep any that are a decent size and they are a great fish to broil.

For me, it's probably specs. I fish for them and I eat them but I don't understand why they are put on a pedestal, I dont find them to be anything special.

I'd just assume go home with sheepshead or red fillets to put on the grill or under the broiler.

Chewy and not a very good flavor imo. I’m sure some people truly like to eat gator, but I’m convinced most people just like the idea of saying I eat alligator more than the actual meat.

Learn how to clean them efficiently.

I've never had a blacked alligator I didn't like.

For me, it's catfish. Reminds me of a shitty buffet. I'm not a fan.

Agreed. It's probably my least favorite freshwater fish to eat. I think availability is what made it popular. I'm sure there are worse fish, but I usually stick to the big 3 - crappie, bass, bream. I catch more of those than I can eat, so there's no reason for me to ever keep a catfish, and I don't.

Sakalait. It might be because I suck at catching them but I've never noticed them tasting that much better than bream.

Can't beat really good fried catfish. Not a lot of places get it right. Seems like Mississippi does it better than most places in LA.

I always throw goggle eye fish back because of this. They are bad eating.

Deer. Last few packs of deer sausage I received ended up in the trash after I tasted them. I loved deer growing up but lost the taste I guess.

In my opinion wild alligator can’t be frozen. It’s good when eaten fresh but after freezing it gets really rubbery.

For me it’s ducks and specs. I haven’t had a good tasting duck yet and spec tastes more fishy than most other fish.
