HAMILTON, NJ (RNN) – Some lessons are more expensive than others. Firefighters smashed out two windows in a gray Acura this week so they could get to a fire hydrant the car was blocking. “This is what happens when you park in front of a hydrant,” the Hamilton Township Professional Firefighters said on Facebook. “Reminder, it is against the law to park in front of a fire hydrant.”

I have no real issues with this, although it was clearly a statement made by the firemen, as they could have gone either over the car or even under the car easier and faster than busting out the windows.

I still side with the firemen.

It’s not about ease or speed.

From that top picture looks like it's barely able to go through the window without being kinked.

Car is too close to the hydrant to go over or under without crimping the hose.

They should light the car on fire when they're done.

ETA "oh I'm sorry sir/ma'am we can't put the fire out... you're really close to the hydrant we can't connect the hose"

I think they had a pretty legit case for pushing the car out of the way bulldozer-style....

I wish they would have used the jaws of life to pry open the doors for a more level hose. That would have been a much better lesson taught.

Looks pretty obvious to me that it would have been more difficult to try and attach the hose from over or under, if even possible.

If I was the victim of the fire, I would file a civil suit against the car owner for delayed response time of the firefighters causing extra physical and emotional damage

frick people that do that

Gonna disagree. Not a fireman but I think you’d kink the hose going over and damage the hose going under. Probably the only way to do it is go through.

I've seen this done at work a couple of times. We have a Gung-ho fire department that does a great job.

The guy definitely deserved it, but wouldn't it be better to direct the large valve away from the street?

I will say that if my house was burning and the firefighters had to waste time dealing with some shite like this, I would be pissed.....
