What is the best treatment for an ingrown toenail ?

Take tweezers and put some cotton under the corner of the nail. It will hurt like a SOB while doing it but it will lift the nail from the skin. You can thank me later

I recommend this all the time at work.. but dr.scholls has a ingrown toenail product that’s by the feet/jock itch stuff at a cvs/ walgreens
It contains a pad that looks like a coin slot at the toenail / edge. And you put the medication in that little slot at the ingrown toenail part. Cover with the Bandaids provided in said box and do that for a few days and it should improve

Rub Vick’s Vapor rub on the area for a couple days. All pain will vanish and nail will soften. No shite.

This is what I’ve had luck with. It’s best to do after a shower or soaking it bc it softens the nail and skin up.
The other recommendations sound less painful but can’t say if they work or not.

I used to get them when I was running high mileage and I tried every home remedy there was. Soaking in Epsom salt, balled up cotton under the nail, tweezers, clipping the nail properly. None of it worked and I gave in and let a podiatrist remove it and kill the nail bed. Bastards still came back, but less often.

going to a podiatrist and getting a phenol chemical matrixectomy (the painful edge of the nail is removed, and phenol is used to prevent it from growing back). the procedure has about a 97% success rate.

soak in a large bowl of hot water and epsom salt; will soften enough to remove.

Cut a V shape in the middle of the toe nail and should grow out. Has worked every time for me

I suffered from ingrown toenails all the time growing up and got this done and have never had to worry about them again
I had one in HS that got so bad it got infected and I would come home from school everyday with my socks covered in blood
good times
