quote:

"He was the smartest player I've ever played with and it's not even close." That's high praise from someone who played with all-time greats like Jason Kidd, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. Rondo's tremendous Basketball IQ earned him the nickname Coach 'Do in the Pelicans locker room
the actual quote about a play mark jackson called i can not copy & paste but it is in the link

one of the curses of being smarter than everyone else is a tendency to not be the easiest person to get along with. Rondo is clearly smarter than most if not all of his peers and that extends to coaches

he needs freedom and gentry gave it to him

Maybe not.

Basketball IQs before your time.

Joe Fulks he was a kinesthetic genius. Acrobatic shots plus long range jumpers.
Only person besides mj to lead league in scoring and won NBA same year.
Cousy combo passing brilliance and acrobatic shooting and long range one hand runner.

I didn't see Oscar much because There was only only 1 non.Philly game a week.

Larry legend.
Maravich.

I would put Rick Barry ahead of rondo. Led 2 leagues in scoring and led NBA in steals. Led 2 leagues ft %.
The alpha dog on warriors champ team and aba Carolina champs.
Rick Barry was the only white man invited to play in the MLK Jr game the players set up.

Your examples are curious to say the least.

i don't know if it's the "smartest" but he has probably the best memory in the history of the NBA. he appears to have "photographic memory"

he's certainly no dum dum, but when you combine an incredible memory with above-average intelligence and a work ethic, you fit in well with sports

I don't know if he is straight up the smartest guy. But I have him top 3 in NBA now in terms of Court IQ.

No specific order:

Rondo
Cp3
LeBron

Why would you make this up? Shaq was the scoring leader in '99-'00 and the Lakers won. Alcindor was the scoring leader in '70-'71 and the Bucks won. That's just off the top of my head; it has probably happened other times.

Fair enough. I was going by what I heard during mj run.
You are correct
Fulks, Mikan, alcindor, mj and shaq all won both scoring title and NBA champ in same season. Several guys won both during career.
Wilt. Barry. Petit come to mind.
