Yep. I’m “off” for the summer...starting on Friday. I’ve already started my summer job because they overlap.

My sister (no pics) was a teacher for a few years and she drove a beverage cart at a local country club golf course during the summers and made a killing on tips. She doesn't consider it extra work at all.

The teachers that complain about pay are the ones who refuse to do anything during the summers to supplement their income.

If only there was some way for them to know how much money there were going to make...

I say this believing teachers should make more money and have their classrooms properly funded. The same ones that I do not "unfollow" are the same ones that do not work during the summer and complain all the time.

You seem to really hate teachers. Then again, judging by the numerous mistakes by you in this thread concerning the profession, I'll just assume that you are ignorant.

You're a literal retard if you think this. It's a defined benefit plan which is way more expensive to the employer, hence why they essentially don't exist outside of government anymore.

Where did i say anything about the cost to the employer?

I posted the people stating its free to the teacher and they dont pay a dime into it.

Thats not true. They pay more into it than most people put into retirement

Of course its a decent retirement but you guys are acting like they are all going to live like kings when the finally hang them up.

The fact is you can bitch about teachers all you want. You have and had the same opportunity to be one as they did.

They can work anywhere after they retire in their fifties pay into SS and then draw it like the rest of us do.

As someone that entered the profession a tad later than most, I can assure you that you are ignorant concerning these circumstances. The SS that I have paid in over the last 35 years in the work force (12 years of full-time work and 23 years part time) are actually detrimental to my retirement after all of the penalties are enforced. I have checked on it numerous times. As the legislation is currently written, I get screwed. Such is life. Your remark is born out of ignorance, so no worries. To continue to espouse that is disingenuous though. Just fyi.

Explain. It's not "detrimental," you deduct the SS payments from your defined benefit plan.

Aww there is poor little Pecker. He really hates teachers. I can see why though, good pay and having 16 weeks off a year. Of course someone like him couldn't actually make it being a teacher.

I don't know what you're talking about, teachers don't make shite. Don't believe me? Just ask them, they'll tell you.

I’m pretty sure most areas allow you to spread your pay over the summer months too. If they were able to be paid based on results I think we’d have a better system. Instead, shitty teachers thrive.

My wife is a teacher at a public elementry school and I can tell you the 45k a year she makes and the month she gets off does not make up for a quarter of the BS she deals with

Under the Windfall Elimination Provision, my SS would amount to a few hundreds bucks a month. However, I also get hit by the Government Pension Offset as both my wife and I are teachers. In short, my wife can have access to either my pension or my SS after I pass, but not both. Sooooo...I can go to work after I retire but the benefit will be minimal upon receipt, or...non-existent for my wife upon my passing.

Why would you do that?

Nevermind, don't answer that. I realized I'm reading about you bitching about someone else bitching. To actually ask you to bitch some more is not something I wish to do.

My gf teaches 3rd grade and she works about 40 a week at school and there is maybe 5 hours of grading that she isn't able to do while the kids are testing. I work more at home than she does.

She doesn't bitch about it

Teachers and Real Estate agents seem to be some of the most miserable people. Always bitching about something.

Teachers are off of work for the next 2 and half months. Must be nice to live like a kid the rest of your life and have the summers off.

But it is MISERABLE to deal with those kids for the 9 months they do work. I’d rather work a normal 8-5 job in outside sales with 3 weeks vacation than to deal with shithead kids or cultha kids for 9 miserable months. They couldn’t pay me enough for that crap. No way in hell.

How is that detrimental to you? It's not like you paid SS for most of your life like the rest of us did.

You get it all free from Louisiana income tax while the rest of us pay taxes on our retirements and 401k plans.
