Another truck shopping thread: opinions needed Toyota vs Silverado

After a year of being in a Wrangler Unlimited and wanting to get back into a truck, I’ve been truck shopping lately. Have narrowed it down to a 2018 Silverado crew cab 4x4 or z71 or a 2015 Toyota Tundra crew max 4x4 with 38k miles, both of these options are 35k out the door (no ot baller here). It’s hard for me to pay the same for a 3 year old truck but I know tundras reliability. But there’s something to say about a brand new truck with 0 miles.
Inb4 never buy new blah blah

Both are good trucks, you will lose less money with the Tundra when it comes to time to sell though.

Yeah, I enjoyed my Jeep thoroughly but it is much better as a 3rd Vehicle than a daily driver.

3-4 Times in the last year on jeep rides, then during hunting season at the camp, but our roads altho muddy and unpaved are pretty maintained.

Tundra will still be running at 238k miles.

Toyota makes trucks for small Japanese sized men. If that’s what you are by all means get a tojo toy truck

Buying a Jap vehicle on Memorial Day? Couldn’t be me...

This. It's a much nicer truck than the Toyota. And they're all reliable in this day and age.
The Toyota doesn't deserve that resale value at this point. It's no more reliable than the Silverado, and it's not as nice feature wise. They've been selling a subpar truck for a few years now, just getting by on their name.

I've lost count of the number of Chevy trucks I know of that have over 300k miles. Know of several over 500k. One at 700k.

So will the Chevy if taken care of. I see more old chevys than anything, but Chevy/GM is the make of choice around here. Tundras are fairly rare in general.
All the big companies make good reliable trucks now.

I remember when Chevy was bailed out with taxpayer dollars.

I've had both. Traded in my Tundra on a Silverado and am happy with the Chevy.
Toyota reliability over the domestics is true in just about everything but trucks. The truck playing field has leveled out these days.

Sold my 96 Chevy with 230,000 miles on it. Saw it recently and had to ask the guy. Truck is rolling strong with 349,000 on it. A/c is out though.

We owned one for 3 years and sold it for about 3k less than we paid for it. They don't depreciate quickly
