but the word is that Clyde Edwards Helaire is about to take the SEC and the Nation by storm. Nothing but rave reviews in practice about how hard he is to tackle and he’s like a bullet coming through the line . We only caught a glimpse on that sceen play last year but I don’t think the staff is worried . He’s going to be the feature back . Provens looks like a back that can take it to the house if he gets in open field and Chris Curry really does play like prime Marshawn Lynch . If we can move the ball through the air , don’t be surprised when our running backs start putting on a show .
Guice stays calling Clyde his mini me I think everyone is going to see exactly what he means come Miami .

Can't wait to see him play. This is going to be a very good team.

Anyone who watches tape of curry would think same but can he do it at college level. He and helaire should make a brusing backfield

RB is not a concern, we'll be good there for a while. Just gotta get our OL in serviceable form asap.

Consider that in the spring game despite less than stellar OL play CEH averaged 5.2 ypc. His low center of gravity and strong lower body are going to make him a difficult player to bring down. He's got the body type of Dalton Hilliad and Kevin Faulk. All 3 are (were) 5'8, shifty backs with strong lower bodies.
And yes, Curry is going to be a very solid player. I wish he was here in the spring, but backs tend to pick up play pretty quickly.

Yet they all play behind Brossette. I really wish our starter was as good as all those back-ups.

Not a forgone conclusion.
Nick Bridgette is a senior and may start vs miami but that doesn’t mean that will last long or that he’ll get more carries.

Both extremely underrated players by our fans, IMHO. Provens was not as highly rated coming out of high school because he is so versatile. Once he settles into a full time role in college - kid can play any skill position. Curry had the broken foot that held him back from topping a lot of lists at RB.
We need a lot of things to come together, of course, but we have a lot of different weapons to attack offenses out of the backfield. No, we don't have a dominant Guice or Fournette type player, but both of those guys were limited as seniors, anyway.

True. If you watch Curry's JR film he breaks off about half a dozen 60+ TD runs. His SR season his blocking isn't as good and he has the injury and instead he's moving piles. He's going to be a very good between the tackles runner.

Honestly, do you think a recent high school graduate is PRIME Marshawn Lynch?
So, everyone else rated ahead of him in high school last year are basically the monster aliens from Space Jam?

LSU's running backs should be okay next year. If they are the weakest position group on the team, LSU is going to be REALLY GOOD.
I like both of the new guys:
Week 10 results:
How LSU’s commitments fared in Week 10
T. Provens also led LSU in YPC in the spring game.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire: 14 rushes, 74 yards, one touchdown
Tae Provens: five rushes, 56 yards, one touchdown
Nick Brossette: eight rushes, 20 yards, one touchdown
Lanard Fournette: six rushes, 18 yards, one touchdown
I like both of the new guys:
Week 10 results:
quote:
Tae Provens, 3-star RB: Provens turned in yet another big performance out of the Madison County (Ala.) High backfield. This week, the 3-star athlete found the end zone on the ground and through the air, accounting for more than 200 all-purpose yards. Overall, Provens amassed 165 yards rushing on 23 carries and another 62 yards on 5 catches and two touchdowns — a 38-yard reception and a 9-yard run.
quote:
Chris Curry, 3-star RB: Curry has come back from a lingering ankle injury and is seemingly rounding into form as the postseason approaches. LSU’s running back commit racked up 87 yards on 9 carries and scored touchdowns of 4 and 25 yards in a 40-7 Lehigh Acres (Fla.) High victory Friday night.

This might be the best team to come out of LSU in 20 years.
