How are they screwing it up? Over the last 20 years, gun rights have increased.

But on a more general note the penalties for engaging in illegal buying and selling of guns could be made more severe. That's fairly straight forward and you're not making any additional action illegal. Just making the sentencing more harsh.
But how would that reduce school shootings? Nearly every single one of these happen because the kid illegal possess a gun that was legally purchased.

I think parents should be held criminally responsible if an act by their child is committed using their gun. This of course is more of a state by state issue.
Again, how would that reduce these shootings? And to what degree to we want to hold parents responsible if they engage in absolutely no criminal negligence.
I'm not trying to be stubborn but I've found the problem with this entire discussion is that no one from either side can point to some legislative action that would have any chance of reducing the frequency of these shootings.

Guess what frickhead? They also have a right to be rednecks. It falls in there with "pursuit of happiness"
Now,just out of curiosity...what would be your idea of a reasonable compromise?
this gonna be good

I've listed a couple of things already
Another option that might be politically smart is to beef up the enforcement of existing laws. Expand the fire arms division of the ATF for example. No new laws needed for that. Would you have a problem with that?

The problem is that the bias media and democrats are making people think that the NRA is responsible for the mass shooting when it’s completely false. The right needs to push to get all gun owners to open their eyes and get out and vote .

If I were trying to preserve gun rights I don't know if I'd be announcing such a thing in light of all of the mass shootings

That narrative is a lot easier to push when there is next to 0 cooperation in wanting to do anything at all about these mass shootings.

My position is that the first amendment is pretty clear and well worth defending.
As a result there are problems as some see it in the unfettered and thus unbelievable things people say everyday that causes offence to many citizens.
I'm convinced its still worth it. And I will use the 2nd amendment to keep it this way

The issue is how it's being attacked. You can't make an effective factual rebuttal to a purely emotional argument. The only thing you can really do is present facts and expose their plans to take a million bites from the elephant.

I look at it like this : People should be allowed to be themselves, and not give a frick what other people think of them.
Of course,my definition of redneck doesn't imply racism, unlike the left's definition.

This is correct. And this is why you need to get out in front of the issue.
If you propose 0 solutions to a problem, eventually people start considering you part of the problem right or wrong.

Please tell me what options the 2nd amendment groups have put on the table to help the problem
Arming school teachers is out of the question because the teachers don't want it

Take no final position himself. Declare you unreasonable by throwing ideas out there and testing you.
Trust me. He didn't ignore this post from me by accident

I have literally NEVER discussed gun control with someone who could say no to the following question.
"If i give you what you want now, and gun violence continues, are you going to be satisfied to stick with what we've agreed to?"
NEVER
