something must have happened between LSU and Emery. with our RB situation we had ought to be in drivers seat.
LSU might have slow played him initially when he wanted to commit because they thought Cain might be better.
But Emery has turned out to be a beast and not scrambling to get him back but the ship has sailed.

Doubtful that Emery was ever slow played.

As opposed to slow playing him... seems they are playing the long game with him. That's why pushing back his commitment date (is that confirmed?) was so important.
Instead of the recruiting equivalent of a "bum rush" they seem to be planning on inviting him to numerous practices, probably make arrangements for game-day unofficials, and (if it goes that long) official visit.
A cumlative effect, "work him" over time approach. IF the main competition is MSU and not UTx or Bama, then we can win that, we have several advantages.

It looks like we might get a visit from Trey Sanders.

He's saying all the right things... My optimism is growing. Dad has really come around for the good guys. Just have to keep up the momentum.

Interesting. I believe Sanders and Noah Cain may want to play with each other.

So do you think he delayed his announcement to August because of us or other teams? I mean clearly this wasn't working for MSU's favor since he was pretty much set to commit there this week.

Yes, had he committed when he originally said, I think it would have been to MooU, however, we still wouldn't have stopped recruiting the hell out of him and his family. Now, there are some that are saying that we lead, and others than think we have pulled neck and neck. No matter where he commits in August, this won't be over. Even if it's us. Everyone interested (and there's a lot), will be hounding him until signing day.

There are a handful elite backs still uncommitted, and most are flirting with the same schools. I'd expect some shuffling around in the fall and winter.

This whole situation seems so much like Chase's from last year. A kid thinking he really wants to get away but when push comes to shove in the end may end up picking here.

I think most are waiting on the Sanders domino to fall. Bama seems pretty confident there. Texas would love him and Cain together, but I think once the season gets here and they see that Texas Oline getting killed (again), Sanders will shy away. Cain wants to be a Tiger, but I just don't see a situation where we take all 3 of those guys. If we do add a 3rd back, I'd imagine it being a guy like Spivey, but even there, numbers are super tight going forward. (Speaking as assuming we do land Emery, and Cain is forced elsewhere)

No doubt...all 3 isn't going to happen.
Davis and Emery would be an unbelievable combo that would complement each other well.
Davis and Cain would be damn fine as well.

I don't see what's so outlandish about taking three elite backs, but maybe I'm just being too pessimistic about last year's RB class

You must be thinking about someone else dude, Ridley was a beast

It’s not so much that LSU wouldn’t take all 3 if they all wanted in.
It’s that 3 kids of that talent level rarely sign with the same school.
LSU would be in great shape with either Emery or Cain added to complement Davis.
