What if Lincoln wasn't assassinated?

How would the South be different today if he serves out his second term? The 10% Plan was in the can.
Johnson was completely incompetent. He was in no way a leader to effectively handle what he inherited.
Reconstruction under the Radical Republicans created more racism in twelve years, in my opinion, than the previous 250 years had.

The $5 bill would look different.

Probably a more lenient reconstruction process. Probably less of a presence of extremist groups like the KKK and the Knights of the White Camellia. I wonder how it would impact the Civil Rights movement; would it have happened earlier and with less conflict, would it have delayed it or prevented it?

Blacks would be in Africa like he wanted, but nobody wants to hear the truth.
To answer your question, it would be pleasant.

Then we wouldn't have one of the original and GOAT chain emails of all time.

Allegedly Lincoln planned on shipping all freed slaves back to Africa

Yeah, history does include politics. That's not the type of discussion that I'm looking for, exclusively. There are historical topics on the OT all the time.

Lincoln was concerned about reconciliation and healing. He wanted to bring the country back together and move forward.
The focus turned to punishing the South after his assassination. The South would have had to cooperate if Lincoln’s plan was going to work.

Hard to know if Lincoln would have been able to hold off the Radical Republicans.
But it is probably safe to say that Radical Reconstruction would have been a tad less radical.

I am aware. There was a lot of bitterness among white southerners at the end of the war. That bitterness grew exponentially under Radical Reconstruction. Do we agree?

If you believe in the multiverse theory then there's a universe where Lincoln didn't get assassinated.
But that universe, having not contacted our universe, clearly shows that they don't have it any better. Comparatively.

This is a deep fricking topic. Should have been started during the day. No one knew his plans on integration of Africans or reconstruction. He might have relocated a % of AAs to other regions. Might have moved industry south. We will never know. He was a thinker. He kicked the idea around about securing AAs an African country. They declined. I do think his assassinating was a major setback for our country. He wanted unity. The pure capitalist took over and raped our resources, and fricking starved the common man.

You are probably right.
Lincoln may well have been far better for a post-bellum south.

He would still be dead today.

We bought Liberia with the intent of making it an American Colony of former slaves. Lincoln meet with leaders and they declined. Claimed AAs wanted equal rights as Americans. That is the TL;DR version.

The deep state couldn’t allow that. They’ve been at work since the beginning. A lot of people believe it started with John Quincy Adams.
