Courtyard makes truly world class IPAs

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I hate saying it sometimes because I feel people will think I'm just being a fanboy since I live in LA, but having been all over the country drinking beer that statement is spot on. They compete with some of the best beers I've ever had.

I've been to all of these at least a couple of times. Just my personal ranking of New Orleans breweries based on beer and the space.

Urban South

Courtyard (Great beer but brutal for the next few months.)

(The next three are all pretty much on the same level for me. Probably hit NOLA more than the others due to BBQ and a better space. Plus its easy to pop in if I'm already at one of the others on Tchoupitoulas.)
NOLA
Parleaux
Second Line

Port Orleans (Beers can be very hit or miss. Definitely improved the last time I went though. Food is pretty good too.)

Wayword Owl (Nothing offensive but nothing really great either. Plus it is in a shitty area.)
Brieux Carre (Only been twice. Extremely meh both times.)

They have a new IPA that is more than servicable and a barrel aged porter that is pretty remarkable.

I wasn't a huge fan of Glory Haze but that porter was damn good.

Port Orleans gets a lot of hate, mainly from people who haven't been back since they were unimpressed a year ago. I believe they have stepped up their beer game. Especially the Douze and the Offshore Chocolate Imperial. Urban South makes great stuff and Justin Boswell is a great host and brewmaster at Wayward Owl. Sucks that people don't frequent as much due to their area.

are courtyard or urban south available at retail locations like rouses, or just in the taproom and/or bars?

asking for a friend...

HEY! It's true.

Does NOLA still allow kids? I heard a rumor around time that Coco went out that NOLA stopped allowing kids in the tap room.

According to NOLA Brew Bus they do

LINK

ETA: I don't know how accurate this is. Port Orleans shows it doesn't allow dogs or kids, but I've seen both there. Hell, somebody brought a pig there one night.

Urban South is available literally everywhere. Courtyard is not. They don’t distribute and can only be found at their location on Erato.

Courtyard would be available at local retail locations if the state/NO allowed self distribution. The owner has stated a number of times that he would love to can and self distribute to locations around the city. Unfortunately our economy does not operate on the same laissez faire dynamics that made it great.

I have seen both there recently.

NOLA still allows kids as far as I know.

Not entirely true. They are all over the country due to "collaborations"
