I agree with what you said, except the last part.... you clearly have never been in a mizzoukillz thread before.

So, the opinion of the vast majority here is, it's ok that the cop disciplined his 14 year old girl the way he did. That included slapping her face, pulling her hair, using his belt, ond PUNCHING HER IN THE FACE. So it seems fair to say that if a grown man punches your wife or mom in the face, you have his back. THAT'S my point! The kid got mouthy to a teacher. I agree completely that a serious punishment is in order. But do NOT PUNCH A CHILD IN THE FACE. I believe that if "Officer I Proved What a Man I Am" got called to a domestic scene, anyone who punched someone in the face would be arrested, as well they should. But Father-of-the-year here gets a pass, right? I just don't understand, but it makes me sad. This has been about the most disturbing thread I've ever read here

Agreed man. Both my wife and I spank our kids. It is effective and serves its purpose. Neither of us have ever grabbed them by the hair and dragged them around in the moment of anger. I’m a pretty big proponent of waiting a couple of mins until you cool off a bit then serving the corporal punishment.

Don’t agree with him grabbing her by the hair. Do agree with him using corporal punishment to correct her.

ETA: Punching her is not corporal punishment. Despite the fact this is a TJGator thread, the cop should have been arrested.

I have no problem with corporal punishment. However, punching her and pulling her hair like that was uncalled for and clearly done in a spirit of rage and not correction.

The parent disciplining this child is out of control and striking her in anger. He is very wrong. I cannot believe some of the responses I am reading. An adult should never discipline a child in anger. It completely defeats the purpose of the discipline, becoming a way for a parent to release frustration rather than attempting to correct the child. I was spanked as a child and have used spanking with my child. I have been disciplined in anger and there have been some times I did that myself (although not excessively in either case). I have learned through the years the value of remaining in complete control as an adult when dealing with children. If you can’t handle it, do not spank.

Holy hell! I’m all for physical discipline when necessary, spare the rod and spoil the child. But that father went overboard. Grabbing your daughter by her hair and punching her in the face is completely out of line. I’m shocked at the amount of people defending this.

You know, TJ, I do not think domestic violence and beating children in public while no one intervenes is really a box you wish to open.

I am 63 years old, and never saw the need to physically inflict pain on my kids. There are many other more effective ways to discipline children, spanking is just a sign of a lazy parent, or low level thinking.
