As a coonass, I think Texans are braggarts, rustic, unsophisticated boors.

But I think Texas is the greatest state in America, more American than any other state, with an incredible history and a shining future. Their shortcomings are far overshadowed by their bravery, leadership, innovation, hard work and just damn stubbornness. As a country we would be nowhere near where we are without them.

A couple of clips with my favorite Texan actors:

Robert Duvall

Sam Elliot

It would be to the benefit of Louisiana if they were just annexed by Texas

Might finally improve the area

I think Baton Rouge is better than New Orleans but worse than Lafayette. At least it's not Shreveport though, which is even worse than Alexandria. Too bad the whole state isn't like the northshore.

Born and raised in Avoyelles parish. Education from the great state of Louisiana’s public education system all the way through a Masters of Science.

Lived in Houston Texas and now reside in Austin Texas, and if I were forced to live in Louisiana again I would literally commit suicide.

I spent the first 25 years of my life in La, born and raised. I love La, but not the politics and infrastructure. The culture in La is amazing, as nowhere else. I have lived in TX for over 30 yrs, and quite honestly, the state of TX has their shite together.
Schools, roads, health and a lot of other things make it great, not to mention the geographic differences.

They really arent.

Some obviously are but they arent true believers of freedom and liberty. Only when its their version of freedom.

1. Up until recently open carry was illegal in Texas. Now its only legal if you have a license from the government to exercise your 2nd amendment right.

2. They follow the incredibly ignorant and un-American FOPA laws when it comes to vehicle carry(at least they did 8 years ago when I lived there)

3. They have exorbitant property taxes. InB4, "they dont have income tax." Property tax is more un-American. Youre paying a tax just for the right to own a place to live. And its a tax for life that you carry into retirement. And it often forces people to sell family homes they inherit because they cant afford to carry the massive property tax bills on more than one home.

4. Its literally illegal to be gay in Texas. 21.06

5. Many, many dry counties. So American you cant drink alcohol.

6. It illegal to manufacture, issue, sell, give, provide, lend, mail, deliver, transfer, transmit, publish, distribute, circulate, disseminate, present, exhibit, or advertise a dildo or pocket pussy.

fricking Texas.
