Have any of you baws been to the prison rodeo? Looks like an interesting event. Would it be worth the drive down from Birmingham?

It's amazing. The crafts they sell are very well made. Everything from a carved rose to a dining room table set.

And watching 4 inmates play poker when a raging bull is let loose and the last man sitting at the table wins is something eveyone should experience.

You'll get a small taste of how amazing the Roman Collesum must've been

I've never been but this is what I've always heard. Very well made stuff for good prices. Guy I work with got a nice handmade leather wallet for far less than you'd pay in a store. Another lady got a full dining room set.

Get your tickets on the west side out of the sun. Parking or rather leaving can be pain, but it's worth the time.

Well worth it. Traffic sucks arse leaving, but it's been yes since I've been so I don't know if it still is bad.

Traffic is still bad and always will be. The last rodeo they didn’t sell hobbycraft tickets so there were a lot less people there.

I agree. I first went about twenty years ago and I still go once every couple of years but it really is tamer these days.

Maybe all of the good arts and crafts are bought up early but I never see anything but crap for sale there.

They built a new stadium a few years back that tripled attendance but still have the same one-lane road to exit so traffic leaving is horrendous.

Good advice about getting seats on the west side.

I never bring a firearm but I'm amazed at the ammount of people who do. My buddy brought one one year and they make you check it in this building by the gatehouse. It made me think I was only one who didn't bring a gun. It looked like Cabella's in there.

For all my bitching, it's still a great time and I think everyone should go at least once.

I know I'll be back.

Go before it gets any tamer or maybe even shut down altogether due to political correctness.

Just don't buy any furniture that could fit a prisoner.

Walking the grounds and checking out the crafts was really cool. To me, the rodeo was pretty hokey. I expected a little more violence and edginess. Overall, worth the trip for a one time experience.
