It happens at every elite college baseball program. There are a lot of small things that contribute to situations like this. Call it a perfect storm. But, I agree that some coaching changes should be made. I’d like to see PM go after a top tier hitting coach. If he wants to give his former players a shot at coaching, let them work their way up from lower on the totem pole.

Yes we should expect lau to be better than current record of 2018 season. Florida gators were national champs last year in 2017. This year gators are not perfect but lot fewer losses than lsu. If gators can do it, paul maneiri can certainly do it. What is the deal with paul maneiri in 2018 ? I dont get it with him promoting the certain coaches he has as his assistants

Same thing at TCU. Others have it happen, too. Don't like it but it happens.

You saying injuries is just an excuse and definitely not part of LSUs issues?

I’m saying everyone has injuries.

Name the other teams who lost their best returning starting pitcher for the year and their leadoff hitter for all but 4 games. Also had 2 of their other best hitters for avg miss significant time

It isn’t just about having injuries. It’s about how many, who, and how long. Do you not think we would be a better team had we not lost Eric Walker for the year? What about if Josh Smith had been available all season? What about Broussard or Jordan? These injuries are to huge contributors. And we’ve had more than usual. Its not an “excuse”. When you lose your best players, you have to give playing time to lesser refined individuals.

I said it before the season, and I'll say it again. The team lacks a clear leader. Every team that Paul fielded up to this point had several leaders. This team is relying on Watson, the Jordan brothers, and Hess. Watson is a quiet player. The Jordans have been in and out of the lineup. Beau is the closest we have to a leader now but even he isn't the leader type. Hess plays once a week. If Smith were healthy all year, I believe he would be the guy to have rallied the troops. It's just kind of a mess now. Young team riddled with injuries and a staff that still really hasn't found the right lineup or pitching sequence. I know it's often overused here, but next year is the year. We shouldn't lose much that isn't replaceable. The young crop has some leaders but it's too soon to expect them to step up in that role.

Oh wow you are 100% accurate. Surround yourself with top tier assistant coaches not former players with less than probably 5 years of coaching experience

We lost the entire weekend rotation. Those were three guys who could get you a win if you scored 2 runs. You don’t just replace that.

No, I’m not looking that up for you.
Don’t act like Walker was lost a week before the season. There was plenty of time to replace him with a quality arm.
Jesus, you act like Smith is a Todd Walker type talent. He’s not.
The other two are middle of the road SEC players, they shouldn’t be this difficult to replace. Players on this team were highly recruited, they’re just not performing up to standard.

Now you are just being ridiculous. Not allowed one year to restock? Damn! Do you throw out the whole bag of popcorn because of one burnt kernel?

Quit being such a drama queen. Injuries are not an excuse for this team, and they're the actual reason this team not playing as they normally do. Pop a Prozac, Nancy.

Not anymore I am sorry to say.

If it takes another 9 years to get to the finals then I might not be alive to see it.

Boo Hoo. Life sucks because your team doesn't win every game. Boo Hoo.
