The issue nowadays is people have zero shame. Why get skinny when you can be handicap and get a better parking spot? Why work hard when you can just pull out that LA purchase card and get free food? It pisses me off to no end, the issue is nothing embarrasses people anymore. If you call them out your just called racist.

That being said, some people have non visible disabilities. My FIL is still a healthy guy, 72 but still works like a young guy but has a handicap parking pass. Can’t feel his feet from knees down due to agent orange but can still work them just fine.

I just want to know why, where I live, so many with handicap tags drive huge-arse trucks that you practically need a ladder to use or high-end luxury vehicles.

Must be long money in disability...

My standard routine is:
Remind them that they are in a handicapped zone.
If they say they are handicapped, I accept that.
If they rationalize, I ask them to move.
If they refuse, I offer to call local law enforcement.

my wife has a bladder condition that she was reading up on last night and one of the things she read is that if you have the surgery and they officially diagnose you with it, you can get a handicap tag for it and get a card that forces businesses to allow you to use their restrooms even if they don't have a public restroom. There is some weird shite out there and she isn't sure if she wants to have the surgery or not.

I won't say that most people that have a tag are able bodied but there is a big chunk that are. I was pulling into my local grocery store last weekend and there were three spots open, the handicap spot which is right in front of the door, the one right next to it and one on the other side of the parking lot (about 40' further). I parked in the one farthest because they are a bit wider and easier to get in and out of. I saw a man with a handicap tag pull up into the handicap spot in a jacked up pick up (f250 with probably 35s on it and about 4 to 6" of lift) and he jumped out with no issues and go in. He bypassed a spot that was literally 10' further to walk to eat up the handicap spot knowing he didn't need it.

My son uses a wheelchair. We can hardly ever find a handicap spot. It makes me so mad when I see a morbidly obese person take the space. But if someone doesn't have a tag, I look for a cop. And, I'm sure some people think we are gaming. My son looks completely fine and is able to walk, but walking long distances using too much energy and causes pain, so he uses a wheelchair for longer distances (like a store). I can see people scratching their heads when he gets out of his wheelchair and climbs in the car. It used to bother me, but I got over it. I'm not required to explain his condition to strangers so they don't judge.

I don’t think ANYONE should have reserved parking. Problem solved.

If you need a tag to park 5-50 or maybe 100ft closer, you shouldn't be driving.

One of, if not the biggest, fraud on government benefits.

When I see someone do it, it's usually me, so I keep quiet and avoid eye contact.

I only do it when it's at a place where 45% of the up front parking is handicapped. Where are all these handicapped people? You see maybe one, two cars tops, scattered among the 35 handicapped spots. As long as I leave 3-4 spots open closer to the door, I can sleep at night.
