OT Lawyers, what are the best personal injury firms to work for in the state?

I've been noticing a lot of job salaries posted on here. I also noticed a lot of supposed lawyers on here too. Anyways my brother is going to become a personal injury attorney. I personally thinks its the biggest POS profession but he wants to make money. He's currently in law school and I dont want to say where because I dont want to get doxxed but it's a really good school. He's also been sending out emails to be a law clerk or summer intern or whatever. How much do these guys make? What are some of the highest paying personal injury firms in Louisiana for associates/partners? And how much do those guys make? Any non-OT lawyers can chime in too.

My non expert impression is that kind of law is kind of like playing the lottery. You're hoping for the big pay out that sets your career, but you might not ever end up with a ticket for the big payout. Seems like there would be more secure ways to make money.

Why are you asking the same question twice?
Also, nice "my brother is in law school." Just admit you go to Southern and want to put the Womac on 'em

Some are POS who are blood sucking creatures.
Others don't take on stupid shite and represent people with a valid reason.

While it is true retirement level money is just one phone call away a plaintiffs PI attorney can make very good money just on the grind.

He’ll likely have to go out on his own to make big bucks. If he has enough of a network to bring in business to a PI shop, might as well just go at it alone and get a higher cut.

Personal injury is alot like sales you can make alot real quick if you work your arse off and hustle clients or you can do the bare minimum and make 40k.
You can probably make a little more at a firm
Not on tv where hustling cases matters more unlike the tv guys who get a shite ton of cases and assign them down to associates.

the PI firm I clerked for paid the attorneys 1/3 of whatever they settled. That seemed pretty decent, until I discovered any lucrative cases that walked through the door were reassigned to the owner.

He should go work for an insurance defense firm first and learn how to do injury/liability law on the insurance company dime. Salary will be decent and he will get better experience in a shorter amount of time (generally).

So the firm gets 2/3 and the attorney gets 1/3 of a 1/3 total take. That’s ~11% gross. Is that good?

OP is too embarrassed to admit he wants to become a personal injury attorney

In hindsight? nope.

If he is just coming out of law school it’s a pretty good bet he doesn’t have other attorneys referring cases to him and a good chance he’ll starve to death.
I know several and they all have told me a lot of the smaller guys are closing up shop and working for the big tv firms, Gordon, Dudley, Morris Bart, Peyton Murphy and Spencer as they are wrapping up a lot of the work. They would just rather collect a nice salary and a smaller cut.

The average PI attorney in SC, if you divide take home pay by hours worked, probably doesn't make much more than your average factory worker. There are just too many civil lawyers in most states. I just took the SC Department of Insurance exam in order to get a producer's license so I can branch out if need be.

Thank god your brother is out there, ready to help the little guy. People always complain there aren’t enough lawyers, and they are correct. The world is especially desperate for more PI lawyers.
