7 positions that we shouldn't be drafting on day 3
-QB - There are still 3 decent mid-round options left, but I assume we're done looking for Brees' potential successor.
-FB - I think everyone expected this after we signed Zach Line.
-WR - Thomas, Ginn, Meredith, Tre’Quan Smith, Coleman, Carr, & Tommylee. Pretty sure we're more than fine at this position now.
-K - No explanation needed.
-P - No explanation needed.
-LS - No explanation needed.
-DE - Basically the same situation as the WR position. Jordan, Okafor, Davenport, Hendrickson, Kikaha, Muhammad, & George Johnson. Plenty of options to choose from.

7 positions that we could take on day 3 if it's BPA
-RB - Still looking for a #3 RB.
-TE - I'll be cool with a TE if the FO is sure about the guy. Still a bunch of decent TE options left. We should be fine at this position even if we don't draft a guy here though.
-DT, LB, & CB - Basically the same for all of them. We have our starters & even backups at these positions already. I'm assuming they draft BPA among these 3 positions, b/c it's going to be hard enough for a late round pick to make the roster at any of these 3 positions (can a late rounder beat out Loewen at DT, can a late rounder beat out Stupar at LB, & can a late rounder beat out Maulet at CB).
-Safety - I didn't include this position with the 3 above, b/c we actually have an open roster spot for a #4 Safety. Banjo will probably be the #5 Safety, & he likely won't be getting playing time besides ST.

2 positions that we really need to hit on in day 3
-OT - Good news is that we're still in play for Austin Howard. If we don't sign him & we also don't draft an OT...that would really suck. I don't care how get an OT, but we need 1.
-OG/OC - All we have is Jermon Bushrod & Cameron Tom as backups here. I'm not sure if we can trust either of them. We really need to hit on a legit OG/OC on day 3.

Really would like to focus on OL depth today but I cant complain with what we have done so far. BPA has kind of been our bread and butter and has worked out wonderfully under Ireland's watch.

According to Payton before the draft they were:

Pass rusher- check
LB
TE
OL

I imagine with 5 picks and 80 guys already on the 90 man roster we will move around a bit today to make need match value.

Aside from what Payton listed this is what I see as holes this year:

3rd HB (we have a few 4th HB options on the team)
4th or 5th CB (outside guy)
4th safety (preferably a FS but Coleman can play both spots if pressed)

Payton would likely list these as wants as opposed to needs because this is more about depth (which is still important but not as critical as starters/first backup).

QB of the future is also a want but that ship sailed once Rosen was drafted.

Really want Ian Thomas and the best rotational OL available. Then we can go BPA the rest of the draft and I’ll be happy.

I think we make a run at Hurst. I know he has a potential heart issue but a starting DT quality guy in the 4th seems worth the risk.
