I got a speeding ticket in Livonia today. Do I have any chance of having it reduced if I show up for court or is this such a money maker they don’t reduce anything? I was about 2 miles east of town and the only speed limit sign I saw was covered with a trash bag, and I was driving with the flow of traffic.

I got one there once. They just want the money. It doesn't go on your record, at least mine didn't.
With that said, it can't hurt to call and ask about getting it reduced in court.

Call, pay the fine and it likely won't go on your record. It's just a money grab.

I'm surprised that these chickenshit speed-trap towns don't have their city hall burned down more often.

If it was in that construction zone, it will be double the price, and there are several 45 mph signs out there. I drove through this morning from the camp, and looked.....Sign's are there.

Do you never travel 190? No excuse to speed thru any of the chicken shite towns on 190 they are all well known speed traps.

I travel all over the state for work, one of the reasons I use my Garmin GPS is to show me where town limits start and end...

Mine also shows the speed limits. If no Garmin, download the Waze app, will also show speed limits.

I run Waze also, but I like the ability to see the change in background colors when I am getting close to a town, that way I know when the speed is going to drop and where cops might be sitting

Yeah, definitely my fault just had the cruise set following the car in front of me. I thought I was clear of the Livonia speed zone but apparently was not. You think there is any chance of reduction or just suck it up and pay?

They are going to get their money, just ask them to keep it off your record

Uniden R3, Waze and staying very alert can definitely help.

My wife got one a few years back. Showed up on the court date at the designated location. 5 minutes after the start time, someone walked in and said "anyone wishing to have their speeding ticket moved to a non-moving violation, come line up here". All but 2 people stood up, got in line, paid their $250 cash, and moved on with their life. Maybe you can pay it online now, but yeah they just want their money. It shouldn't hit your record.

Slow the frick down. People drive 190 like it’s the interstate. It is not. There are people stopped in the fast lane trying to make left hand turns because of no turning lanes. Fatalities every other week or so.

This and frick whoever down voted the first post. I live by the area where the op said they received the ticket. I literally hear sirens just about every other day from wrecks on 190.

There has been way too many fatalities, I literally personally saw a guy dead on the pavement a few weeks ago.

Oh and PSA:
WBR runs their version of the money grab on 190 just as you’re entering Erwinville. Once you past LA1 eastbound, start easing up. By the time you see Raxx or the little Dollar General on the left, you’re screwed.
They sit in Camille’s/Sandy’s daiquiris lot and shoot radar. No biggie, they just want your money.

Honestly the state should be responsible because nobody should have to stop in the left lane to make a turn on a busy highway. Hard to believe that they haven't fixed that shite. Regardless, if I had to make a left turn there if there was traffic coming I would probably just pull in the median on the side and shoot across all the lanes once traffic opens up.

Pretty sure elections are soon, just call and say you would like it fixed.

You should be able to get your ticket reduced to a non moving violation, but that’s about the best you can hope for. Locals can’t even get tickets fixed they want their money.

I would guess that it is just like all of the other speed trap towns that are scattered around Louisiana. They probably won't reduce it, but if you call them, they will generally allow you to pay a little more to keep it off your record. Call them on Monday morning...don't wait until the court date to start this ball rolling.
