Agree on Vert....I'm not seeing that with Bloom though. My wife picked up a couple more 4 pks at Nunus yesterday....I had one last night and it seemed pretty damn good. It was 2 weeks out on the date give or take.

I don't get this. You have to have some friends that like beer, trying beer, but are not that adept at distinguishing subtleties.
I do. But most don't care for IPA's. And we all have multiple kids, so we don't get together often. Plus, they're all bourbon first drunks, not beer first drunks.

Surprised about Vert. I really enjoyed it. Maybe I got a good batch?

Or maybe I got a bad one....I had one 4 of Vert and was severely unimpressed.
With all the options out there ( ) I just never tried it again.
ETA Once US started bringing their stuff to Lafayette that changed the game...now if Gnarly Barley can keep Jucifer flowing (in cans) that only ups the game even more.

Jucifer was supposed to hit Laffy this week.

Well, I think it's over carbonated and not nearly as good as previous versions.

So after you pour out your Bloom, that'll be $32 worth of beer just thrown down the sink?

It did....I hope they can keep the production up to continue that trend. I think Nunu's and Whole Foods are already out...not sure on Rouse's and Marcello's. The guy at Nunu's did say they were supposed to get more next week. Don't worry Nunu's wasn't out when I went by yesterday but they had less than 2 cases left after I got done

If you haven't heard ghost hype, this is your first day on this board...welcome

It is possible that I don't remember what the old stuff was like...I had Bloom for the first time last year but we drank a shite pot of it. Who knows?

ghost hype
9 times out of 10 it lives up to the hype. Let's be honest if it weren't for Ghost we may not be seeing the bad arse beers that Urban South is putting out now or stuff like Jucifer. It showed these guys that there is a helluva market for hazy/juicy IPAs in Louisiana.
Now to say Ghost is the best IPA in it's class in the country is way off base....hell it may not be the best in the state anymore.

Ugh, totally disagree, Jucifer is trash, I'd take ghost or Nova vert over it every time.

but i found Nova and Bloom to be shells of their former selves
I agree with this 100%. I thought the later batch of Nova was better than the first. Bloom is really good but just not as good as previous batches. Looking forward to summer of Ghost. Hope not to be disappointed.

My sink has a refined palate.

Ghost definitely isn't for everyone
It wasn't for me. I tried other IPAs since them and I'm fine if I never drink another one. Now I do love me some Canebrake.

I did not like Vert this year. Bloom seems tad more bitter this year but I still like it quite a bit. If there is another hazy IPA out there better than Ghost, I haven't tried it (though I'd like to if anyone has any suggestions).

You mean locally? Or anywhere?
Whole Foods on Post Oak in Houston's Hop Explorer 12 was the best hazy ipa i've ever had. I've tinkered with my own "haze" ipa's to try and emulate that one. That one had all the juice, aroma, and flavor. Yet it was able to present a smooth mouthfeel, without being too full, bitter, or minerally.

I've had some good ones from Katy Whole Foods recently. Thanks for the tip.

I agree. Nova was a disappointment, but I enjoyed this batch of Bloom.
