I just read an article in the Advocate that seems to indicate the Starring Motel has been sold along with the land behind it. Things may be looking up for that area.

I hope the new ownership honors my existing contract.

Wasn’t there a thread on here where the land owner’s daughter was saying what an upstanding business that hotel is?

ETA maybe it was Facebook. Can’t remember.

The Advocate article does not specifically name the motel

A 15-acre tract on Staring Lane has been sold for $1.4 million to a group of developers who plan to build a single-family development on the property.

Doxa LLC, which is made up of William FaKouri and Art Lancaster, bought the land in a deal that closed Tuesday. The property is midway between Highland and Perkins roads, near Staring Court.

Scot Guidry, an agent with Mike Falgoust and Associates, represented FaKouri and Lancaster. He said they plan to build Fieldstone Park, a 91-lot subdivision on the site. The city-parish Planning Commission approved plans for the development at its November meeting.

Bill Jeansonne, of Saurage Rotenberg Commercial Real Estate, represented the group of sellers.

This is the piece next to the hotel, not the actual hotel. This is the piece where the guy sells firewood.

If you're talking about this article, it doesn't really say it's the Staring Motel property, just that it's near Staring Court, so it could be another tract as there's a bunch of land back there.

This is the thread from last month . I guess it could be the same land, but someone said the family owns 10 acres (less than the tract sold in The Advocate article).
