Is there a snake repellent that actually works? *pics included*

Was working in the yard yesterday and almost reached my hand down to where a garter snake was chilling. I know garter snakes are harmless but to me a snake is a snake. Screw them all.
I've been seeing an uptick in the amount of garter snakes in my yard recently and I've seen some copperheads in my yard in years past so I know I have more that I don't see. I've just never seen this many snakes on my property in one season and it's only April.
I see some products online but I'm skeptical since I've never used a product other than a shotgun and shovel. I have a kid that loves to play in the yard so if I can try to repel them from the yard all together that would be great.
What can y'all recommend?

I've used Snake Away before... I think's its pretty much just moth ball pellets. I don't know how effective it is though

A mongoose. Seriously those repellents don't work. There are videos on YouTube busting them.

Kill the copperheads with a shovel and leave the garter snakes for your kid to play with. Then maybe he won't grow up to be a pussy that's scared of a garter snake.

No, snake repellents don't work. If you want fewer snakes, the only thing you can do is reduce food and shelter for them on your property. Clean up any junk they or their food might hide under, and keep any brush and weeds cut down.

I love watching those little fast suckers. They are some calculating risk takers. And quite deadly.

Buy a minnow trap and put a couple chicken eggs in it. The snake gets in, but can't exit.

I have heard Powered lime works but cannot swear to it that is if you do not mind a white line around your yard

Ive got garter snakes running out of my ears. You see one weekly. I love them being out there.
On a related note I almost stepped on a baby cotton mouth the other day. My wife is still pissed off I dont have moth balls stacked an inch deep around the house.

Make sure to kill all of the garter snakes, black snakes, king snakes, chicken snakes, etc. After that, you will only have poisonous ones to contend with on your property.
Seriously, don't kill or run-off the non-poisonous ones.

My neighbor swears by Sulphur flakes. He puts it in his yard like dry fertilizer. I see very few snakes anyway and even then they are just rat eaters.

I use lime around my campsite when there are snakes around.
