actually smoking gets nicotine in your system more quickly than does dipping

I know one can of dip has as much nicotine as about 80 cigs but I have no idea about how it gets in your system. I was just taking a guess tbh.

there are new studies that explain how dipping/chewing barely increases ones odds of cancer, if any. In the study the most they could determine is that it could up your chances like 3% more than someone who doesnt dip. That it was so mimimal, they couldnt even say the smokeless tobacco caused it.

It's a stupid rule regardless, they're grown men, they aren't naive to the dangers of dipping
Ehh, if they get cancer later I can for sure see them suing the NCAA and everyone else

I have a very hard time believing this. I've never heard of someone getting jaw cancer that didn't dip. So you are saying it's purely coincidence?

I know for a fact it jack's up your mouth. That's not good for you, if it ain't good then it's almost definitely bad.

I believe the study was saying 3ish% of men who don’t use tobacco get oral cancer compared to the same with smokeless tobacco users which was 3ish% also. There was 2 doctors who were trying to find better alternatives to smoking and had been seeing data that possibly smokeless tobacco wasn’t as bad as once assumed and iirc they did the study along with a big study group. I wanna say it was like 50,000 in the study. The study found it raises heart rate about as much as caffiene but doesn’t have the long term effects on your HR or BP like smoking does, it also, according to the study, doesn’t thicken your blood like cigarettes do long term. Now the study did not figure in throat cancer, so who knows on that. I don’t dip or smoke anymore btw.

I know 3 guys, one has died who have oral cancer. 2 of them, including the one who died, did not use tobacco. The other one smokes. All that is irrelevant though, just adding to the discussion.

absolutely..sugars alone in it will rot teeth. I never said tobacco was good for you. But neither is drinking cokes, tons of processed foods and fast food. Just stating there are conflicting reports on its direct link to oral cancer.

And let's not act like just because little Johnny sees somebody dipping that means that he's gonna go down to the gas station and pick up a can of snuff. I hate the world we live in today, full of unnecessary bull shite rules.

If Johnny is dipping it's because his friends and peers are dipping...

Not because some Pro baseball player is. The only people who are influenced by Pro athletes aren't remotely old enough to buy dip.

I mean, nobody is selling tobacco to a 12-year old.

Moderation is the key here. A guy that dips 2 cans a day versus someone that dips a can a week is way different.

Worldwide 450,000 new cases being found each year of oral cancer...with 45,000 coming from the US.

I've traveled a lot, nobody outside of the US dips. You can't find Copenhagen anywhere in Europe except Denmark.

People get lung cancer all the time who have never smoked. That's how Andy Kaufman died and he didn't have a cigarette a day in his life.

Tobacco is linked to cancer, it's not like if you don't smoke you won't get lung cancer.

I knew a woman who smoked from age 13 to age 95...died from dementia, natural causes, never got cancer or emphysema.

Off the top of my head, Bobby the Brain Heenan, RIP. I'm sure their are many others.

It's not called jaw cancer. It's oral cancer and can be developed in the mouth or throat. Depending on how severe the oral cancer is your jaw might have to be removed.

The most common side effect is rotted teeth because the shite is coated in molasses and people keep it in their mouth for long periods and then don't brush afterwards.

Snus is supposed to be safer because it's not molasses and not fire-roasted tobacco and leaves out the carcinogens to a degree...it's a cured tobacco with salt.

They showed a link between pancreatic cancer for Snus users in a study but it wasn't significant in numbers (because you can swallow the Snus).

The most common problem among dippers is dental problems...gum recession to the extreme and cavities due to the sugars.

We had a QB in college that would dip during practices and everything. I couldn’t imagine dipping while playing football because imagine getting hit every play and that stuff being flung all around your mouth

Pretty sure it's banned in the MLB as well, but you can see Bregman rocking one regularly. Sadly it is a pretty standard thing to see. High school all the way through the pros.

Banned in minors but not the show. Union is too strong to let it be banned

We had tons of guys who would dip in games during games in H.S. football.

Jim McMahon chewed during games in the NFL.

Link?

For the record... I use Black Buffalo. It is a smokeless tobacco alternative that uses tea leaves instead of tobacco leaves.
