Pretty much. The Streisand Effect would destroy their careers if His got more publicity.
Moving on gives them a chance to keep working in that field. They due and they become pariahs.

This is typical reporting these days so I wouldn’t be surprised. Very seldom are reporters put under the microscope for their shoddy work. Not saying Chris does this, but in general people should be accountable for their work.

Couple of things stand out here:
1. this a private school so they were paying tuition to have her son mistreated. She gonna get paid
2. this school specializes in special needs kids, this is a bad look all the way around for them and they will need it to go away quickly
3. the mom in this definitely has an agenda and using Facebook as a public forum for this before even speaking to the school is pretty trashy and attention whorish.
4. the principal seemed to sense they are in deep doo-doo and there is most definitely some sort of history between the school and the mom

is the recording of people like this even legal?

I think there's more to the story and probably some history between mom and the school, but that doesn't excuse the behavior of the teachers. They were wrong. Mom noticed problems with the child at home suddenly and suspected it was a teacher issue. Seems there must have been a reason for that like something happened before. Regardless, again, the behavior of the teachers is inexcusable.
I think it's odd that one was fired and the other is getting to stay until the end of the semester. I'd like to know what's up with that. If the school wants to save some face, you'd think they'd get rid of both teachers poste haste.
I agree that mom should have stayed off social media with this and taken it up with the school or at least consulted an attorney before plastering it out in public, particularly since their may be an issue with recording the teachers. I guess she figured it was like having a nanny cam, but with only audio.
I wonder if the child is still at that school?
The whole story is sad.

doesnt really matter now does it? if you are on the school's board you definitely dont have have the stomach for any kind of legal battle over the recordings. you will lose the public opinion battle even if you are right. the damage is done to their reputation and the best course is to settle with her as quickly as possible and try to get away from it
private schools are a business and the parents that pay the tuition are customers.

Legally she may be in the wrong. You think a DA would charge her though?
Who needs the DA, the two woman that were fired can sue in civil court, they lost their jobs as the result of an illegal act, the mom that recorded them has liability.

I wonder what kind of recording device she got.

They can try.
Win or lose, though, they end up getting so much publicity to this case that they are worse off than if they had let it drop.
As of now, people just hear “two teachers fired over tape”. This goes to court and they start hearing the teacher’s names over and over again along with what they did. That kind of publicity means the incident sticks around and haunts them forever, likely getting them blackballed from teaching.

I make fun of people all the time. ALL THE TIME. I spare full-retards, honestly I do, and physical handicapped folks as well. What these teachers did was nothing. Go do a fricking story on what the kid’s home life is like. There’ll be 10x the screwed up shite there for people to spout off about. Life’s not all smiles and sunshine, and I for one hope those teachers sue the dogshit out of that mom.

Yes. I'm sure a jury will side with the teachers. Good luck with that.
