re: If we hadn't traded Buddy for Boogie, I'd be mad about not getting Murray

Murray being 2-3 years younger than Buddy and being at worst just as good as him is also why he’s better

I think Murray's ceiling is McCollum, buddy's is definitely Reddick.
McCollum could handle the ball in spurts, Murray can do it as well.
Reddick and buddy are definitely more refined sharp shooters.
Like I said in another thread, I'd love to have either. Both are guys who could definitely contribute on playoff caliber teams

Murray is arguably better than CJM already
He can be THE guy
Buddy is A guy
Their skill level is not in the same tier

Have you been watching Murray since Dec? He’s been taking over games competing for a playoff spot. Carrying a 60% TS% and hitting 42% of his threes
Dude is 20. CJ McCollum was a junior at Lehigh at 20

McCollum has proven it for 3 years. Murray has played this well for what... 3 months?
A 23/4/4 guard who knocks down 42% of his 3s is a very high ceiling.

weren't you the guy saying you would rather have Sam Dekker than Devin Booker 3 years ago? i'm glad you seem to have learned your lesson
the point Gyno makes is that Murray is putting up great numbers in a big role as a 20 yo on a 45 win team. McCollum didn't play more than 1000 minutes until his 3rd year in the league and his age 24 season. he has played very well, but that difference matters.
it doesn't guarantee Murray anything, he could plateau- which would still be a very good offensive player. but there is ample reason to believe that Murray can surpass CJ given what he's shown and his age. he is arguably as efficient a scorer as CJ already

And we’ve seen steady progression and not regression from Murray. That’s the very thing that made him so attractive. He’s not close to being maxed out.
McCollum is a 4 year college guy who didn’t figure it out until year 3 in the league. By saying thats Murray’s ceiling is saying he’s nearly maxed out

T if you want to talk numbers more compatible to Mccollums big minutes, Murray has played 30+ min in 42 games this season, for a 34.7 avg
20.5 PPG
4.4 RPG
3.7 APG
45% from 3
49% from field
63% TS
He’s 20. Let’s find a slightly more ambitious ceiling. And I like McCollum

I don't think I ever mentioned booker. Lol.
I did say Sam dekker would probably have been more important than asik. But that's not saying much.

A top 3 sg is an ambitious ceiling.
He doesn't have the athleticism of Bradley Beal. Nor the length and defense capabilities of Klay Thompson.
Would calling him a ceiling of Bradley Beal make you guys happy?

Murray gets the nod for youth but Buddy has been no slouch since the allstar break either.
On a far worse team where he doesn’t have the luxury of great players to draw attention away:
Buddy post all star: 29 MPG, 16ppg, 46% FG, 44% 3P, 5 REB, 3 AST, 58% TS%
Murray post all star: 34mpg, 17ppg, 42% FG, 38% 3P, 4 REB, 4 AST, 56% TS%
Again, Murray has the nod for youth and growing room for his ceiling, but both have been producing fairly neck and neck. The one major thing I would give to Murray right now is getting to the line. He is averaging nearly 4 FTA’s a game to Buddy’s 1 FTA. Though one has to wonder how good Buddy would look this year on a good team that plays to his strengths. You know, a team that could draw away defenders and give him a ton of open looks from three thanks to two superstar big men drawing all the attention. I think we would have to concede that if Buddy were on a similarily good team like Murray is, his numbers would look even better. Still, with hindsight, I think you have to go Murray in a do-over. Though I don’t quite think the gap between the two is as large as some are making it out to be. At least currently. That could obviously change over the course of a career.

I don’t care how they are doing right now as I would rather Cousins over both Murray or Hield. Cousins is the best center in the league.

The only reason I'd agree is because Murray nor Hield fix the issue at point guard or small forward. That's assuming we are stuck with either.
But their elevating play and cheap contracts can definitely allow us to sign or trade them for a talent.
I love having boogie, but give me a talented sf over him any day of the week. It's just how the game is now. You need a wing.

I would take a just decent 3 and D guy along with Cousins/Davis/Mirotic over a potential 2nd tier SF and whatever else we could get to put next to Davis/Mirotic.
Big men are thin in the league and having the dominant advantage in the paint should be a bigger factor.

I've watched enough of Murray to think he is better than jrue in spurts, but he's not close to rondo. Which is what I think this team at its best needs.
At its best meaning less boogie passing
Yal keep overvaluing Murray based off his potential or small sample sizes. Yes he's talented. Yes he's still young. Doesn't mean he's a sure lock to become this top 5 guard yal wanna keep pushing.

the fact that you disagree justifies that stance bc you’re generally clueless
At least tranny will run to the box scores to justify his argument

Not a single reasonable person would say at this current moment Murray is better than McCollum.
I don't even think Denver nugget fans would.
