To under 21. Goes to full Senate now. Better call your state senators. If this passes it’s foot in the door. A RINo from New Ibera was the deciding committe vote.

Not in LA but I encourage all of you to call.

Take a new person shooting if you can! One of the best things you can do for gun rights.

Here's my hang up on all laws with minors:

If you can serve AND die for your county at 18, all laws should consider you an adult and treat you as such. (alcohol and firearms especially)

If we're going to keep up with this "under 21" charade, application to the military should reflect this as well.

/end rant

I emailed mine yesterday, no response.

How do you see the vote?

ETA: Found it

Against: Sens. Claitor, Perry, White.

Didn’t LA pass the strict scrunity rule a few years ago as it relates to the second amendment? I feel like if this did somehow manage to pass, it would be found unconstitutional in LA

They decide to pass this and they are going to be thrown out with the bathwater.

I always thought guns were FEDERALLY controlled and not on the state level.

Many gun restrictions are at the state level

You have to be 21 to buy pistols why not assault rifles, what’s the difference. Down vote away! That being said if someone wants a gun whatever kind bad enough they’ll find a way to get said gun. It will just make responsible gun owners who want said guns wait until they’re 21.

You have to be 21 to buy assault rifles you idiot. You can't form 1 them because of the hughes amendment so it gets transferred on a form 4. Now if you are talking about modern sporting rifles, then yes, you can buy them at 18. Also, you can buy pistols through private sales at 18.

Formal definition of assault rifle please?
Oh, hey there Google, you dumb.

as·sault ri·fle noun a rapid-fire, magazine-fed automatic rifle designed for infantry use.

Semi or fully? Doesn't matter? So there are tags distinguishing them in the store, or just no-go on the scary looking one with big a BBC (big black "clip"). Gotcha. Dumb

You’re right, but I think you should be able to buy a pistol at 18. So.....

While I do agree that you should call... lots of bills pass committee. Even if some of them don't agree with it.

An AR15 (modern sporting rifle) sold at academy is still an assault rifle, it’s the same rifle the military uses. Even the military doesn’t use fully automatic anymore just 3 round burst, why because it’s a waste, and not as effective. So to mince words with you about “modern sporting guns or assault rifle” platforms is splitting hairs, one can be more effective with the semi autos than full autos.

The proposed legislation would do nothing to reduce gun crime.
