Guy was part of the locker room problem. Teammates did not like either of the Booty's.

And Josh was the worst All-SEC QB of all time. He was the opposite of clutch. UAB and Bama games come to mind. Josh going for personal glory and trying to run it in with no timeouts in Tuscaloosa instead of throwing to an open TE will always piss me off.

frick that guy and his trashy family.

Booty did all he could under that crap staff in 1999.

Booty was ALL SEC under Jimbo in 2000.

I haven’t talked to him since the seccg in 2011.

Never came across as salty at all. Huge LSU supporter

Sounds like someone unable to take responsibility for his role in his failures.

I don't think he's placing the blame on LSU. I think he know's the timing was wrong and his decisions affected his career. I'm not a Josh Booty fan by any means, I just don't think he was saying "frick LSU."

quote:

“I dreamed about being the first person ever to play quarterback (in the NFL) and (big league) baseball at the same time,” Booty said. “That was my mentality — I have to go catch up on the football side. I was an idiot. You can’t do it. It’s impossible.”Naturally, Deion Sanders, one of the few to successfully marry NFL and Major League Baseball careers, was Booty’s “favorite athlete of all-time.”
The Baton Rouge thing didn’t work out either.
“LSU wasn’t the best place for me,” he said.
I'm old enough to remember Josh Booty's career at LSU. He played for Nick Saban in 2000 and he led LSU past Alabama in Baton Rouge in 2000. He led LSU's final game in Little Rock, AR which had a Orange Bowl bid if the Tigers won. It was a nasty day in Little Rock and LSU scored zero points and Arkansas scored 13. FINAL

Never ever the Bootys fault. Never accepted blame for anything even when he singlehandedly lost the Bama game. Idiot trying to run the ball in with 2 wide open receivers. Freaking interception king. Rohan Davey should've started every game Booty saw the field. DiNardo putting up with his shite smh. DiNardo lost his job for 2 reasons: Josh Booty and Lou Tepper. Booty sucked. Still wish Ryan Clark would've beat the chit out of his punk brother. He failed LSU LSU did not fail him.

He is probably correct that if he had played college football right out of high school, he probably would have developed into an NFL QB.

What I disagree with is the idea that LSU was the "wrong" fit for him in 1994. Had he gone to LSU at that time, he would have been there for the 1995-97 seasons, which were good seasons for LSU. He would have been part of Dinardo's mini-revival, and he would have graduated before the abysmal 1998 & 1999 seasons. All of this assumes he would have beaten out Herb Tyler (not a great assumption -- Tyler was very underrated).

tl;dr Booty's LSU career would have been very good from 1995-1997.

Just like his brother, John David, he did not have the physical tools or physique to be an NFL caliber QB. John David was great at USC. He made and NFL roster for one season and then the practice squad the next season. He was then out for good. It was more due to his size and physique then anything else. A lot of that is genetics.
