Lol based on what? Why do you some of you post most ridiculous assumptions based off of zero data???

I don't think it was an assumption as much as just a prediction for purposes of discussion. Obviously no one here knows exactly what these kids will do, but there are reasons to think either guy would stay more than one year.

1. Smart is a 6'4 guard. Though not always, taller players are generally more coveted as lottery picks than guys under 6'5. In many 2018 mock drafts, only maybe 3 guys 6'4 or under are projected in the lottery. It you expand that out to the top 30, you're only looking at about 6 guys. And almost all of those 6 were PG's who had the ball in their hands all the time (Sexton, Young, Duval, etc.) That leads to point #2.

2. Presumably Smart is going to be the off-guard or second PG on next year's team. As good as he could be, I don't see how you take the ball out of Waters's hands. He's a special PG in that he can score, but also get everyone else involved. Waters almost single-highhandedly made LSU a very efficient offense last season and everything runs more fluidly when he is in charge. Smart may ultimately be just as good, but Waters has already proven his ability at the college level.

3. Emmett Williams has the athletic ability, but he is really raw as a player. He can dunk and rebound. He can block shots, but he's not considered to be an extremely skilled offensive player. Again, that's not to say he couldn't develop into a 1st round pick. But I don't think many scouts would look at him now and say "that guy is a sure fire one-and-done who is ready for the NBA today."

Those guys differ from Reid right now in that Reid is big bodied AND skilled offensively as a high schooler. That's a rarer combination than the other two so it's not unreasonable to think Smart and Williams might be here for more than 1 year while Reid won't

Just scored on back to back drives to the basket in the game and they were giving props to WW for the recruiting class.

Hope he plays better defense than this. I would imagine so since it's an All Star game, but Wade would've pulled him already.

Side note, looks like a LB out there compared to the other guys.

I hope at least two of them stay for their sophomore years

I'd be surprised if anyone besides Reid wasn't around for a 2nd year. That's not a knock on the talent coming in next year at all. I just think some people underestimate how good you have to be to go 1 and done.

For example, people on here were asking if Waters would declare after this season earlier in the year.

Reid looks like he has great court vision. A pick and roll with him and Waters plus Days and Smart on the wings is going to be so sick. Next year can't get here soon enough!

They can play in both and nobody turns down the McDonald’s game. It’s literally the most legendary high school all star game in any sport
