Most dangerous thing there was probably the ocean, lol.

~25 years ago, the most dangerous part was the 100 km drive from Cancun to Tulim through a mangrove swamp on a shitty two lane road with unpaved shoulders that were about 3' wide, tops. Lots of speeding and passing involved. It was hair raising in the daytime. I wouldn't have done it at night.

The best part is that the people I was with told me the road had been improved since their previous visit.

Aruba isn’t a shite hole, but ask Mr. Holloway if he thinks it’s safe.

I have a buddy who is a big immigration lawyer with Client base that is about 60% Mexican clientele. He has told me for years that hundreds of Americans go missing or die in Mexico every year and it is covered up as accidents, etc. He travels all over the world but will not go to Mexico anymore. He used to go every year or so but quit after Katrina saying not safe anymore

Glad I got my fill of Mexico during the 1990s. I'll never go back.

I’ll be in Tulum in 3 weeks (at a resort for a wedding) but I already live in New Orleans so it’s kind of a wash.

They look Iowa-y. Still , thoughts and prayers to the family left behind.

And yes , Mexicans are lying.

Lol at the people getting downvoted for saying Mexico is a shithole. It’s so bad...beyond bad. The juice isn’t worth the squeeze when it comes to visiting that place.

But they got to experience another culture!!! Beats vacationing at a boring old US beach, like Hawaii or Virgin Islands.

That sucks. Whatever happened to that family that was last seen walking across the border and then ever ever seen again?

Good luck getting any truth out of Mexico about this. No way Mexico will damage their tourism from the US cash cow.

The violence in Mexico had for the most part stayed away from tourist areas. Once tourists start dying you can say adios to your American tourism money.

Just make sure it's not on the gulf coast. The OT makes fun of everything from Gulf Shores to Panama City.

The McStays were found buried in the desert near Victorville, CA roughly 3 years after they disappeared.

A business associate was arrested and the article stated that he was to be going on trial in early 2018.

That was a strange disappearance.

Yeah they have improved the road. It isn't quite American highway quality but it is pretty close.
