Haven’t been in prob 6 months and thought I would try again. Bought some mushrooms stuffed with sausage, brought them home and sure enough they were rancid. Man that place is gonna make somebody deathly ill or kill somebody. Meat dept looked really bad especially behind that glass case, produce beyond wilted and overpriced. Purchase and consume at your own risk baws.

Denham seems ok. Zachary is awful.

I loved the Leblancs on Drusilla.

Airline blows and it’s a shame because I had high hopes for it. Kind of a strange layout too.

I’ve got Calvin’s, Calandros, Whole Foods and Alexander’s I spend my money at and at least 3 are local owned.

I agree with a lot of that, but I just posted this on the OT, albeit different location.

The one on Bluebonnet is hit and miss. Pulled pork and smoked chicken are legit. Boiled shrimp is yummy but very hard to peel. Fried catfish could be the worst I've ever had.

I don't buy anything else there that isn't prepackaged, and they have some stuff I haven't seen anywhere else, like 2 Sisters and Sal and Judy salsas, which are great.

very surprising, because the one on Tchoupitoulas in NOLA is very good.

It’s very surprising because looking back on the threads posted about this place before they opened in the Baton Rouge area were very overzealous. I wonder what’s led to their downfall?

I miss LeBlancs. It's really close to my house and LeBlancs was amazing.

I hear bad things about Rouses in BR (mostly ones that changed from old Leblanc's), but hear really nothing but good things about the ones in Nola and on the northshore. I have to think it's just those areas.

This. Calvins gets 90% of my business. They arent that much more expensive and the meat deals can be good from time to time. I dont mind paying a slightly higher price to support a local business.

I've always found the Rouses in Lafayette really good.

It’s the comparison to other stores that makes Rouses worse in BR. I’ve shopped at several in Nola and they aren’t much different from the BR ones. BR has had much better options like Leblanc’s or Calvin’s that we all compare to Rouses. Rouses isn’t horrible but it’s hit or miss, a local store that was once pretty good, but has expanded way too quickly and lost it’s way

I have tried my best to throw business their way, but they seem to be trying harder to convince me it is not worth wasting my time and money there. I gave up on their meats and milk long ago, and I have run the course on the deli/fresh daily meals. A Louisiana store that can't even put out a decent plate of fried fish and shrimp is dead to me. I can do better at a corner gas station.

The last time I bought any meat from them the pork was bad. I never trusted them enough to buy anything from them ever again. Plus the difference in quality of meat they offer (talking about denham here) vs. other stores like Carters or even Sams is absurd. Rouses may be above Wal-Mart but that isn't saying much. Rouses in Mandeville was great, which is why I was excited for them to come here but they have been a big disappointment.

Calvins is my jam! Not to mention their daily lunch plates for only $6

I quit shopping at Rouses for the most part.... they took over the local LeBlanc's and I had issues with buying meat that wasn't set to expire for a few days being rancid. I brought some back and got my money back but after the third time I gave up on them. Now I drive 20 minutes out of my way now to avoid Rouses and buy from other grocery stores such as Ralph's.
