Just an update on our cap space, we are sitting at about $2.3 mil under not counting Okafor or Mostead's extension (which could wash out), but it is counting the $3 mil cap credit for Fairley and the $2 mil effective space our current rookies would take off the cap (pretty much all for the 1st rounder).
I don't believe we need to hold the rookie money open right now, so we're likely at $3-4 mil under when factoring everything in (but needing to hold or clear $2 mil when we need to sign the rookies).

Just cutting nate stupar and Chris Banjo would be enough to pay rookies lol

Underhill has them at a little more than 9 mil in space, before Okafor.

I have the Saints with a little more than $9 million in cap space. That’s before Okafor. Team should also have some money carried over form last year, too. There is still room to operate.

Whoops. Saw the word “again” in there for some reason.
But I still think he follows the money. And like that tweet said he is well acquainted with that strength coach.

He’s going to sign with the Rams

Yea, if you take off the black and gold glasses, I'm struggling to come up with an argument that would justify coming here over the Rams if I were a neutral player unless we are offering more money which I don't think is the case.
It's easy for us to sit here and say we are a better team, but to the rest of the country, I'd bet the majority would say the rams have a more promising short term future with less question marks than us.
The bright side here is that a 31 yo Suh, that will not come cheap, will not make or break our year, so I wouldn't freak out or lose sleep by any stretch of the imagination.
ETA: Also, before this argument comes, why would he care about fit? This will be his last big guarantee contract whether he works out or not at the destination he chooses.

I don't agree with that at all. And I seriously don't think the rest of the country does.

I don’t think this is true at all. The saints have better super bowl odds right now than the rams at most sports books plus the saints are still a more public team
Inside football circles, I’d say the saints have a slightly elevated position than the rams though that’s strictly a guess.

Well I can't really prove my point, and I can't disprove your point, so touche.
I just figure because of our stigma of having shitty d for so long, a old qb that will drop off at some point; is more worrisome than a young team that maybe won't keep progressing in the right direction although there are no signs of this.

Saints are the best 2-3 year future, Rams are probably the best 3-5 year future purely for QB reasons.

Disagree. They've got a ton of big name guys they're gonna have to pay on top of Goff. We're gonna have to pay our own drafted guys plus after Brees is done were likely going to go after a QB high in the draft which would have at least 4 years of rookie pay.

WTF. This is a terrible take. You do know who the rams are right? 1 winning season since 2004 and their stigma is gone? But 1 season means nothing for our defense? (btw with a bad defense we were never as awful as them)

at some point sure but literally nobody thinks that is happening next year.

The saints are young... Outside of the QB. Come again.

I can’t imgagine the rams giving him multiple years, they most likely would offer a 1 year 15-19mil contract depending on guarantees and incentives, but It’s hard to believe they give him a multi year deal considering they have 3-4 young franchise players that will all be getting large contracts next year. Who knows what suh wants, but my guess is the saints will offer a multi-year contract and that’s what I think separates our offer from theirs. Unless they plan on letting one of those players walk for a 31 year old which would be stupid of them. Really just depends what suh wants cause both teams are solid options if looking to win a title next year.
Posted on 3/20/18 at 2:41 pm to Brageous
The main argument against the Rams is that they will not be able to give Suh a 3-4 year deal. They have too many star players that they will have to resign in next 10-18 months. If Suh went there it would be on an essentially a 1 year deal (probably 2 on paper). I seriously doubt he wants to do this all over again next year.

Rams have a 11.3489% chance to win the Super Bowl
Saints have a 10.9565% chance to win the Super Bowl
Suh is going to go where the money is at.

If those odds are correct I suspect that has a lot to do with the divisions they play in. Much easier road to a home playoff game in the West then the South next year. Unless The panthers fall off a cliff and the 49ers really improve. Which could be possible.

Based on what? Their entire team is young and could've easily went to SB last year. In my opinion they were the best NFC team before the playoffs started. They really shite the bed there and I think their youth showed.
Drew Brees is an inch away from tossing his garbage in the dumpster then having a career ending surgery while the other team has a stud young QB. Yeah, the sell is easy especially playing on a defense coached by Wade compared to Dennis Allen. The Saints have nothing better to offer Suh other than fanbase. Rams fans didn't seem to care that team won last year at all.
If they add Suh that defense will be NASTY! They got Marcus Peters with Talib too. With Wade coaching them they'd probably have a better D than Vikings. Eagles, Vikings and Rams would all look like the best teams in NFC. All the competition would be over here while the AFC looks weak as shite. Saints really need a dominant player like Suh if they want to make a SB run because NFC has some serious powerhouse teams in it right now.

Goff is not necessarily a good QB at this point.
The offense could regress in second year of system.
