re: Cousins to Vikings

The Vikings overachieved and were very fortunate. Rodgers was knocked out, bears sucked. Fully healthy team got the saints at home week one and Bradford played out of his mind. They really lucked out with only 2 key injuries. Had a stretch of wins that included the browns, Redskins, bears, rodgerless Packers, and bucs with a couple impressive teams mixed in.
On paper, yes they'll be one of the favorites to make a deep run, but you can't compare year to year like that when so much went their way last year.
This year you have Rodgers coming back, a new regime in Chicago with their QB of the future, and a pretty tough slate of non divisional opponents.
Making the super bowl is incredibly hard and missing it is not a failure unless they miss the playoffs.

Cousins has never shown me anything to believe he will be clutch in the playoffs. Good luck Vikings.
shite he choked away a win and your in vs a Giants team that was already in the playoffs with a terrible coach.

So very possible 9-7

They just came a game away from hosting the super bowl with case fricking keenum

quote:Fair point.
They have a much, much higher floor. Kirk has been one of the top ten or so QB's the past three years. Case has one very good season. Regression is a much bigger risk with Keenum as awesome as he was and appreciative I am of him.
But that would mean Keenum would have a higher ceiling for the team, and again, I'm guessing he's upwards of $10mil a year cheaper? Has his contract details come out yet?

Uhhh Cousins is a lot better than keenum

I don’t get the AJ McCarron love
He's firmly in the "backup who people just hope is good" category.
But for some reason I think he's gonna be good.

Possible, sure, but that defense with a better QB and a healthy Cook is better than 9-7.
There's a middle ground between 9-7 and super bowl champs but you seem to be ignoring it.
I think they split with Chicago and Green Bay and sweep Detroit. Probably go 3-2 with the remaining home games. Losing 2 out of new Orleans, Arizona, and San Francisco.
Beat Seattle and the Jets. Get revenge on Philly, beat the pats, and lose to the Rams.
So 11-5 is my prediction.

Keenum has hit his ceiling--Russell Wilson wannabe who isn't as mobile and can't improvise.

Their expiations will be through the roof
I think they will be a 10 or 11 win team. But then it comes down to if the $84 million man can handle the pressure. So far he has proven he can't.

He has a better team now though so we will see.

That Redskins team he blew it in the playoffs vs GB and the year after when we had to be NYG was pretty good. Esp on offense with Garcon and DJax.
He blew it, esp that Giants game.
Kirk is also not good at protecting the football, tons of turn overs.

For a numbers guy, you sure are turning a blind eye to how good Kirk has been.
Also, who do you think is better in 2018? Kirk, Case, or push?

This is maybe the first time I’ve ever agreed with you.

Cousins is the king of padded stats. He’s had two games where I was legitimately impressed with how well he played. That was the Packers game in 2016 and the Saints game in 2017. He’s an above average QB who got worked by his own division.
He’ll never win a SB. I’ll ban myself from TD for a year if he does.

quote:opposite. I like the advanced numbers, which show Cousins is decent. Fringe top 10 guy.

quote:Cousins will certainly have the better raw numbers with the weapons he has compared to Keenum. But that doesn't mean he'll have a better season when everything is factored in.

Bradford is made of glass. Bridgewater looked average not solid in his one season. The rest (including McCarron) are unproven.

This year you have Rodgers coming back
The Vikings, under Mike Zimmer, previously won the NFC North with a healthy Aaron Rodgers and have improved since that time. Green Bay hasn't.

The packers have nothing outside of Rodgers. Just a poorly built team
