Yeah, , but the alternative was like $50-$60MM guaranteed at the time.
When he played under the tag the first time, the deal was $16 million per and only $24 million in guarantees. The Redskins are massively stupid. He made $19.9 million playing under the tag.

But for this to be successful the Vikings have to make the superbowl. If they finish 8-8 or even 9-7 o man.
Yeah I have him confused for you
They just came a game away from hosting the super bowl with case fricking keenum. I'll bet anything they don't go 9-7 with that defense, a better QB, and a healthy cook.

There is a pretty good list of QBs better than he is.

No but that doesn't mean hes worth elite money.
He's worth what the team's willing to pay him say he's worth. That is market for a competent starter. You may not like it, but qbs are a scarce resource.

Every Skins fan who watches him week in and out will say the same thing as I did. He's a tier 2 QB but choked away ton of games and went 1-6 vs Dallas.

You never know, they will have a tough schedule next year.

Unless you know 100% that Keenum was taking the 2018 Vikings to a Super Bowl loss.

Haven't seen the Keenum details but feels like sticking with Keenum for decidedly cheaper would have been a better play.
Nah, the Vikings are in a window of contention, and Spielman has fricking crushed it with cap space and locking up guys early. They have so much space (at least prior to this move). Only Diggs, Barr, and Kendricks are up for FA after 2018.
This is the right move. They have a chance to win it all. When you have that opportunity, you push your chips in.

it is only a three year deal tho
so the roster for the most part can stay together

I agree 100%
but if they come up short of making the SB, this was a failure.

They have a much, much higher floor. Kirk has been one of the top ten or so QB's the past three years. Case has one very good season. Regression is a much bigger risk with Keenum as awesome as he was and appreciative I am of him.
Oh yeah, Dalvin Cook comes back.

Does this mean Mr Glass is out?

how is it not?
One game from the SB, replace the QB with a FA QB giving him $84 million guaranteed.

I think Cousins is an upgrade over Case but everything went right for the Vikes last year. Cook and Bradford (I know QB going down is big but Case played well) were really their only injuries. The rest of the team was really healthy. Rodgers comes back, new coach in Det and Chi, first place schedule, etc. I’m not saying 9-7 but I wouldn’t be shocked.

Cousins has never shown me anything to believe he will be clutch in the playoffs. Good luck Vikings.
