We sure are doing a lot of homework on him but how the hell do we expect to get him if he is the choice ? Is it just wishful thinking and going BPA if he’s not there . Or do Ireland and Payton have a trick up their sleeve. It has to be something crafty because I’d hate to give up multiple picks to somehow move up and we don’t even have a 2nd rounder .

Probably want to create smoke around him to get others to trade up and overpay for him. I assume this because I wouldn't think it would be the best usage of the picks with a narrow window to draft a player that has no chance to help immediately.

My thoughts are...
1. Rosen, Allen, and Darnold are the top 3 QBs likely to come off the board. Mayfield is mixed in with Rudolph, LJ, and Falk
2. This is a heavy QB free agent class, so teams may choose to go that route
So I think Mayfield could possibly fall to us at 27. Highly unlikely, but I think there is a higher possibility than some people think.

QB age window is.

Drew will be the QB of this team for the next two years. If we draft Baker, that third year might be a little Green Bay'ish.

I shudder to think of what we would have to give up to get him.

True but there is no guarantee it doesn’t take ____at pick number 27 a year or two to become a real difference maker if ever.
Would you rather them take a qb they feel very confident will be our guy for 15 years after Drew, or take another guy that they aren’t as high on?
Depending on what they’ve discussed with Brees we may be in a situation where we’re trying to win now and transition to a new guy while still being in a position to win.

I'd be fine with giving up this year's 27, and say a future 1st and 3-4th or something.
I'd rather that than waste another mid round pick on a project QB who won't see the light of day.
Not to mention Mayfield may be the perfect fit for Paytons offense. Consider he led the entirety of CFB last year in completion %.

I wouldn't mind getting Mayfield, I just don't want to give up any other picks in this draft.

Yea, I wouldn't complain if we gave up a 2019 pick to move up from #27.

Saints trying get Mayfield picked before 27. A defensive player falls to Saints.

If he is there at pick 12 or so. I am fine going and getting him.

I don't blame you. There are much sexier pics of him out there.

Our whole draft is worth 913 and some points. We would have to trade up into the top ten and that is anywhere from (1) 3000 points to (10) 1300 points.
NFL 2018 Draft Points.
