re: Mayfield holding a private workout for Saints
So if we wanted to move up to pick #11 we would have to trade all of our 2018 picks (#27, third, fourth, 2 Fifths, 2 sixths, and seventh) and we would still be 306 points shy, so we would have to give up a 2019 second round pick... FFFUUUCCCKKK that

Thing is nobody really knows where these guys are going to go. Aaron Rodgers was supposed to be a top 5 pick when he came out and look where he ended up. Brady Quinn, although a bust, was supposed to be a top 5 or top 10 at worst. Nobody knows where Cousins is going to go yet so that could eliminate one of those teams. You also have Keenum, Bridgewater, and AJ McCaron that teams might look at. It's plausible that Mayfield could fall within striking distance to where the Saints might pull the trigger on a trade if they really like him that much. Now they may have to dive into next year's draft picks to make it work.

Yes and I do think we will trade into the second round if we stay at 27 in the first.

I think a lot of people on this board would like that, but Ireland will have to push hard for this. We all know that CSP & Loomis don't like trading back.

Easily the best QB in the draft. No way 26 teams are that stupid with the resources they have now.

re: Mayfield holding a private workout for Saints
If Mayfield gets past the Jets, I'm figuring we have to jump in front of the Cardinals(#15) to get him. This years 1st, 2019's 2nd & 4th would get us there. I really think they are going to do what it takes to get Mayfield even if it's 2 1st's.

I'd rather not give up our 2019 1st rounder, but I guess I wouldn't complain if we gave up a 2019 2nd & 4th. I'm just not sure if a team would accept that. They'll probably tell us 1st rounder or frick off.

I am saying that the Saints will pick at the 27th and then "trade into" the second. I get a little confused with the terms "trade back" and "trade into". Sorry about that..

re: Mayfield holding a private workout for Saints
yea, CSP does this a lot. Probably cost us our 2018 3rd & 4th to do this.

they feel very confident will be our guy for 15 years after Drew

Except this doesn't really mean anything. How many QBs have been drafted in the first round since Drew came to NOLA who are no longer in the league? I'm pretty sure the teams that drafted them felt very confident about their choices too.

So you rather not try and be in nfl purgatory for the foreseen future?

I'd be fine with giving up this year's 27, and say a future 1st and 3-4th or something

KC gave up a 3rd last year and their 1st (22) this year to jump from 27 to 10 to take Mahomes (one spot ahead of the Saints). Maybe the Saints really have interest and are trying do the same thing KC did last season. The downside is the Saints don't have a 2nd round pick this season like KC had last season (the upside is that Kamara is the reason the Saints don't have a second round pick!). So unless there are some other moves, the Saints would be almost mortgaging the entire draft to get Mayfield (assuming they would have to give up their 3rd round pick to get him). If they make the "KC trade" then they are taking Mayfield and not picking again until #127. They also won't have a 1st rounder next season.

That is a steep price to pay, so you better be damn sure the player is worth it before writing that "check". Clearly KC believes in Mahomes. All indications are Payton did last year as well. Does he feel the same about Mayfield this year?

We cant afford to trade into the top 10.
Way Too much currency and we still don’t know if he’s a franchise player.

always afford it if it sets our franchise up with an elite qb for the next 12 years.

I mean that could be applied to any position player. It just depends on where the value Baker in comparison to the rest of the board.

First of all, if they trade up for him the whole front office should be fired. This team is a SB contender for the next 2-3 years and needs to draft for NOW.

If he's there at 27, I know it'll be a shiny shiny hook. But there is bound to be either an explosive pass catcher or a front 7/safety game changer there that would provide an immediate impact.
