In this article in The Advocate it sounded like Will Wade was hinting at a possible new arena or major PMAC renovations.

quote:

“We’ve talked about some improvements," Wade said. "There’s a feasibility study going on right now about what to do with the Maravich Assembly Center, what to do with some other property that we have on campus — to look at obviously redoing the Assembly Center or doing something totally different.

Personally I think they should build a new T&F complex over by the softball field and build a new arena where the T&F complex currently is that way it is still close to the new practice facility.

There were a flurry of rumors a few mths ago that WW & JA were having issues over what WW felt JA promised him in the way of PMA upgrades; as in WW felt he was promised significant upgrades, not half assed ones.

They should build a new arena in all 100% glass exterior to show NCAA they have nothing to hide... anymore at least anyways...

I think the issues they are running into with renovating the PMAC is the circular arena that it is.

It would be hard to remove the ramps and create a front atrium type entrance like they originally wanted to do.

I do think some kind of new arena would be the way to go rather than spend all kinds of money on the existing PMAC.

fans need to be closer to the court, the old press row needs to be sideline seats, students (when they finally show up regularly) need to move back to courtside seats, etc.

there's a lot to do to fix the gameday atmosphere in the PMAC.

Kinda reminds me of the impact Saban had when he got here. He had infrastructure implemented that put LSU into the upper echelon of schools.

If wade is Longterm here and he plans on being here for years and years to come. Let him lead the way on his own vision IMO, I love this guy and totally trust what he thinks this thing should be. A new facility would be awesome though

I agree with everything you just said, but I'd still rather see a new arena... Just think it's time for a change, and it makes a statement of intent not just for Will Wade, but for the league imo

Like I said weeks ago, dump the pmac, play a season at the river center, and build a new arena that doesn’t suck.

They will have to eventually do something to house all the Final Four and national title trophies!

Just build a smaller arena with more bells and whistles. Follow what auburn has done with their arena.

I could get behind that, or if they have property where they could build a new arena while continuing for now in the PMAC I'd be fine with that too... There was some chatter that they're looking at a site out by the softball stadium

yea, I'm down for a new arena. Although, I do think it's pretty cool that the PMAC holds 13K (for big games at least), and Cameron Indoor only holds 9K. it says a lot if you can fill up the PMAC to capacity, and Will Wade might be the guy to bring us back to those days.

Yeah, but even if you build a new one with premium seating, you could probably make it close to 10-11k, plus I'm not sure how you fix some of the pmac's issues without "taking it down to the studs" so to speak

Exactly. And it would not be worth it for a building that old with no real history aspect to speak of. The new one can still be called the pmac, but there needs to be a new building
