How did AJ Labas look yesterday?

I understand he was on a 40 pitch count or so, but from what I've gathered he made them count.

In his first outing, he certainly passed the eye test, as he threw 24 of his 32 pitches for strikes. As expected, Labas was pulled after a brief stint, but that was long enough for him to produce a solid stat line of just one hit and one walk allowed in two scoreless innings.
From Dandy Don this morning.

Really good, threw all his pitches in the zone and can definitely help. I guess it just depends on if he wants Hilliard or Labas as the 3rd starter but both will pitch a lot on SEC weekends.
Storz will be the next one to watch and hopefully Watson gets back in CF this week. Cabrerra probably has one more week to show he can hit or he is going to be out of the lineup.

Labas fits the starter role way better than Hilliard. He has three pitches he controls, and his velocity should recover to about 92. Hilliard, Bush and Bain are the relievers we desperately need right now.

Hilliard, Bain, Bush, Beck, and hopefully Storz

Why just him? He’s hitting better than Slaughter with higher OB%.

Tall. Solid build. Caucasian. Short hair.

didn't throw many meatball strikes, they were all really good pitches.
If he continues that kind of control, he's going to be a good one

Yeah, he worked down in the zone on both sides of the plate. His pitch mix will change as they attempt to stretch him out, he won't use all three pitches the first time through the order. But his command was excellent, so he'll be fine.

Always gotta be THAT GUY in every baseball thread. This is about a damn pitcher and it is turned into a Slaughter thread. You apparently didn't watch a lick of baseball over the past week, and just look at the numbers.

It was turned into more than that with Cabrera comment above.

Right, we should just move Cabrera to 3rd base.
Also, Cabrera and Slaughter have the exact same wOBA.

There’s a guy hitting .333 that can play 3rd.

and his velocity should recover to about 92.
He hit 89 one time according to the pitch velocity display on the scoreboard and all the rest of his fastballs were either 85, 86 or 87.
His off speed pitches ranged from 69 to 81 with the most frequent speed 77.

But there isn't one that should. We have the right guy starting at 3rd right now. Get over it.

I forget where I read it but that’s where the coaches expect his velo to sit around in a couple of weeks. Just getting his arm back in shape by the day.

Slaughter is staying at 3rd
If Smith returns he will be back at SS and Hughes to the bench or play some at 2B if Broussard should struggle during SEC play
Jordan will be in LF and Watson will return to CF putting Duplantis back in RF
It will come down to Webre and Cabrerra for DH slot

The only thing I would tweak with this is that if Cabrera is in the line up and not scheduled to pitch, he will be in the OF rather than DHing.
