We record it then watch it while fast forwarding through most of the speeches. 3 hour show can easily be watched in under an hour.

Same, but we pretty much do that with a lot of shows.

We usually watch an entire week of Arrow, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and now Black Lightning in under an hour

Walking Dead, ten minutes max

Haven't watched a minute of the ceremony live in 10 or 12 years. And not many clips. Really 20 or 25 years ago was the last time I was a viewer of the Oscar telecast.

I plan on “ fricking relaxing “ by enjoying a meal ( I can smell Mrs Pimp’s pesto now ) and my customary long Sunday walk with my dear youngest . Not sure why that enrages you enough to use profanity and demand that I enjoy the same things you do . You seem agitated, do you need somebody to talk with?

Honestly, the last thing on earth I'll worry about tomight is whether or not You watched the Oscars. I do, however tire of hearing references to the perceived "culture war" that obsseses some posters.

I would guess it’s must- see viewing for Progressives. Between the simplistic narrative, the virtue- signaling, the self- reverential celebrity culture platitudes , the cultural infantilism- I would expect it to be about as good as it gets for a Progressive. I mean where else can you see a group of rapists and pederasts condemning rape and pedophiia, anti- Second Amendment zealots who just made movies glorifying gun violence defended by over 500 armed cops, etc. it’s the perfect storm of hopelessly hypocritical American Progressivism. A bunch of moral idiots congratulating one another.

Perfect summary.

And they get so pissed off when you call them out like this.

It’s not a “ perceived “ Culture War, it’s a legitimate Culture War. The Left controls the popular culture, The Institutions, the dominant media culture, Academia, social media platforms, Entertainment, The Arts, Tech etc. And they have declared war on traditional American principles, traditions, ideals and Institutions. Which makes those of us who believe in such outdated ideas as The Second Amendment or the peaceful transfer of power or the radical notion that there are two sexes and 50 other unpopular things, uncomfortable.

Those of us who disagree with the endless Virtue Signalling and enforced Progressive Orthodoxy are essentially Cultural dissidents. The predominant culture is inherently hostile to our views and so we choose to do other things . We either opt in by supporting things like The Academy Awards or opt out by doing things like enjoying dinner with our families.

So you enjoy having deca - millionaire rapists lecture you on women’s rights . You enjoy having guys with personal armed details lecture you on the need to curb the Second Amendment. Imma eat dinner . In fact, it’s dinner right about now .

Oscars are pretentious pricks who have a high opinion of artsy films and of themselves. I’m sure many on this board will be watching.

Not a big sports fan, eh?
There is a huge difference between a 3 hour sporting event where the outcome is unknown to everyone, and every moment of the game contributes to the outcome in some way and an awards show where the outcome has been determined and they simply drag things along.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve watched. I quit watching long ago. I don’t watch any awards shows anymore. I also don’t give as much weight to the awards as I did years ago.
