Meanwhile, the cop is hiding behind a tree while people are getting slaughtered.
Also, you don't know what he did afterwards, he just said he took position there.

The problem is that if we are going to push these 'gun free safe zones', any and all responding officers then need to bust their arse until they are engaged with the suspect.
Having more non-officers moving around armed would likely create more confusion.

why did he resign if he didn't act like a puss?
Go watch an interview with the Sheriff, any interview. That should answer your question.

Did he go out due to the fire alarm? What a puss

“BSO trains its officers that in the event of outdoor gunfire one is to seek cover and assess the situation in order to communicate what one observes with other law enforcement," the statement said.
Question - What good does it do to have an officer with a gun who is shot dead? Can the dead officer help the kids? Probably not, right? So it's probably good for an officer to try to figure out WTF is going on so he can best assist.

BRANDON HUFF, SENIOR, MARJORY STONEMAN DOUGLAS HIGH SCHOOL: The school resource officer was behind a stairwell wall just standing there, and he had his gun drawn. And he was just pointing it at the building.
And you could -- shots started going off inside. You could hear them going off over and over. And he was just talking on the radio, and he never did anything for four minutes. And he's the only one with a gun. He's wearing a bulletproof vest. And all -- he has all that, while school security guards, you know, coaches pretty much, were running in shielding kids.

In that case what the frick is the point in even having an officer there? You put an armed officer at the school and don't expect him to engage an active shooter? WTF

Seems reasonable.
I gave him shite, but also admitted it would be impossible to know how you'd react in the same situation.

Nah man, the officer is supposed to just run into the middle of where gun fire is without thinking about a strategy to best end the situation.

there might have been a stand-down order, somebody on the radio telling Broward deputies not to enter this school until a SWAT team arrived.

A lot of students died at Columbine b/c the police never entered the building.

You've missed the point, i just don't know if you're doing it intentionally or not.

Engaging a suspect firing at others would give you a huge tactical advantage. The officer knew in what general direction the shooting was coming from, while the suspect has no idea what direction the police are. Furthermore, no one is asking to actually engage him but he waited outside and had absolutely no idea where the suspect was.
They had an armed policemen on site and he literally did nothing, the city police responded sooner. So what good does it do to have an officer on site?
