Not being in the legal field maybe someone else can educate me but this would seem a prime candidate for the ussc as the issue deals with the abilities of the executive/executive orders and not just the political issue at hand? Has far reaching implications not just to this issue

There is no ruling! DOJ just tried to go around the 9th to speed things up. Supreme court will eventually here it.

I see you are nit-picking here so I will say that today's action by the SCOTUS basically guarantees nothing will be settled until it makes it back to the Supreme Court. This will not happened until next year at the earliest.

I believe this means the lower court's stay will remain in force for now

I think the SCOTUS wants to wait until after March 5th to give Congress the opportunity to act on DACA before hearing the case.

It means the Appeals Court must rule on the EO before the Supreme Court will hear it.

The motion was to bypass the Appeals Court to have the SCOTUS rule on it faster than through "normal" channels.

The SCOTUS ruling says, "Nope, let the normal process take place" and then we'll hear it.

Didn't mean it that way, but some people will run with this like SCOTUS burned Trump or something.

It’s been quite sad watching the judicial branch follow the other two down the drain.

Nah, they are probably getting tired of being blamed for results due to the legislature not being able to pass laws and solve problems.

What's interesting is that Trump passed up the deal for a trade on DACA for border wall money.

Meh, President Trump made it clear that we need more than the wall to solve the problem and he offered a compromise to the Dums which he thinks would solve the problem but the Dums rejected it even though it included giving a pathway to citizenship to 1.8 million illegal aliens.

Our court system continues to erode its credibility seemingly daily.

With all that eavesdropping fbi/nsa/cia has been doing, this tells me they have some juicy dirt on scotus justices.

Can’t wait for the unveiling ceremony.

This. Not even our usual suspects who think that DACA was the single greatest thing ever and that Trump will burn in hell for trying to undo it have offered up a reason.

Deporting any illegal that runs afoul of the law, beginning March 6 seems like the most equitable, faaaaaaaaaair thing that the DOJ/ICE could do. That way they're not qualifying how good or bad an invading alien is. Sounds like equal protection under the law with respect to its execution to me.

this^^

SCOTUS isn't saying they won't hear it.

They are just saying they won't hear it until it has gone through the standard process.
