Nice. They just had a nice treatment center open up around your parts. I went and visited it a couple weeks ago.

You really live in a box don’t you. It’s not professional like other stuff so it can’t be any good. Open up your mind man.
People are recovering in AA. At least the ones that give it an honest try.

Well your wife has a leg up on the operators/ leaders of AA because at least she can prescribe medication necessary to combat the physical dependency of chemical withdrawal.

AA people cannot.

Pretty simple.

You are correct, withdrawals can kill you. And meds are needed in many cases.

But she discharges patients daily that drink/use within minutes of leaving the hospital.

AA can help reduce those numbers.

It's unnecessary to start a new thread.

I've provided an article based on fact and modern science.

I've been to AA meetings and walked away feeling no better than when I entered.

I feel it is a cult that provides only moral support.

Moral support is not the only solution.

I'm Roman Catholic, actually. I was even graduated from a Roman Catholic High School.

I'm opened minded enough to believe in both science and a higher power.

So because it didn’t do anything for you it can’t be any good for anyone else. Little narrow minded for someone who preaches science.

I specifically said, that I’ve seen people stay sober without using AA for one. I’ve just seen less than the numbers I’ve seen in AA. Also did you just attend one meeting? Meetings aren’t the meat and potatoes of the program. I tell sponsees and guys in my house what’s the point of attending a 12 step meeting if you aren’t going to attempt to work the steps. That’s what it’s about and helping the newcomer.

I never wrote that AA isn't good for anyone else.

I wrote that I feel that AA is a cult that provides no medical help; only moral support.

You been drinking or something?

I had to attend four, which I did.

I went to the exact same place in BTR all four times.

Each meeting was a repeat.

No new information. No real way to combat illness. Just a bunch of people expressing their frick ups, other people recognizing said frick ups but not one inkling of any solution other than to come back next week.

Freaking Groundhog's Day.

Your experience with AA is too minimal to be credible. I know countless people who have change their lives for the better and stayed sober for decades through going to AA meetings. That’s proof enough that it is a solution.
How do you account for those people?

Morale support is what helped me. Knowing there are other people that struggle with the same thing.

And they never make me drink any koolaid.
