A good meeting would be run by people who are trained to recognize specific problems and be able to administer aid to those problems.
AA offers help how? Safety in numbers of other users?

Get real rehabilitation by trained professionals.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to gorehab and stay in long term programs. And most professionals you see, not even in a rehab setting, all recommend AA.

Who better to recognize the specific problem and administer aid than someone who has had the same exact problem and found a way out. You really are clueless

If i knew him in person, i would offer to go grab a cup of coffee or breakfast or whatever. Learn some personal stuff and possibly become friends.
A man did that with me, helped show me how sick i was. It was advantageous to me that he was a doctor that also saved my physical life.

I’m just telling him not to engage. You very well might not be addicted. I don’t know your background or story, just read where you said where you got arrested multiple times regarding alcohol. So In my non expert opinion, might be a little unmanageablity, which they talk about in the first step.

I’m not saying AA is the end all be all, I’ve seen others get sober differently. It worked for me and I was a bottom feeder junkie at my worst. And I’ve seen it work for a good bit of people as well.

All the evidence I need to see is the countless people with several decades of staying sober and changing their lives for the better. AA won’t work on people who don’t sincerely want it to work.

My wife is a phyciatrist (thats medical doctor, not therapist)
She deals with the lowest bottom feeder druggies and alcoholic scum society has to offer.
She is one of the biggest fans of AA there is.
Just my 2 cents on that.

It’s a support group and a step program that changes people’s lives for the better. I’ve worked in the field for the past two years and now own a sober living house in Louisiana. I’ve seen the program change lives. And I’ve also seen people that think they can do it on their own die. So today I’m choosing to live bud.
