You better hope you're never hit by an uninsured driver then...

Good health insurance and a LT & ST disability policy is enough imo. Unless you need to insure pain and suffering
Don't you have a family baw with young kids? A buy up is only 66 2/3rds on a LTD. Even if you have savings, that does nothing but fill in the gaps for pennies on the dollar. I understand the chances are minuscule but something happens to me, I don't want the wife to worry about anything and how we are going to pay for things or my medical care.

It really should boil down to..
So no insurance eh?
Cant sue you for shite huh?
So.. which hand do you jack off with?
I bet the number of uninsured motorists plummet.

I can do my job as long as I can think and type with typing being optional.
ETA: and I can easily live off 2/3 of my income

Yeah but what are you covering yourself against? Looking at your policy you have uninsured motorist liability, and I'm assuming you have health insurance. So you are covered if someone insured or uninsured hurts you. So really you are paying $180/ year for coverage to fill your deductibles? Just seems unnecessary. I think I have it too don't get me wrong.

Average rate for Texas is $1500 annual so for 2 cars and added rental policy, it sounds about right.
Missouri is showing $200 less than the national average. Texas is $190 higher than the national average.

And this is why ai just ordered front and rear dash cams for my car.

I was told to always have med payments because it’s just not for you but everyone in the car. I don’t know who will be with me or if they have insurance.
I assessed my personal risk like this, if something catastrophic happens, I want my spouse to be there and not have to worry about work or our finances. Sure we have money put away but I’ve seen people who were “OK” then next thing you know they need home health care for two years, the savings are dwindling and the spouse can’t return for 6-8 months or is too stressed (causes a breakdown).
66 2/3rds of my income isn’t enough to maintain our standard of living if she isn’t working.
Our healthcare deduct is like $3,000 now I think? That’s really not a consideration. But that $25-30K runway we have in savings will be gone pronto in 5-6 months if we are both out of work due to being sick/disables and dealing with medical expenses.
I value that peace of mind at those ridiculously high limits.

has now lawyered up.
The cops wrote a bullshite report and didn’t assign fault. They didn’t bother talking to the eyewitness. Now I’m about to be sued.
Yeah, I do this for a living and nothing should surprise me. But I’m really hating humanity right now, because I am the one being victimized. fricking liars on all sides. My profession is a cesspool.
Think of the money you’ve made representing people with bullshite lawsuits. Now you’re having to give some back.
I’m glad you were there to stop him from hitting someone who makes an honest living. At least now you have one thing to be proud of in 2018

Do you have an umbrella?
I carried exactly what you have now until last year when we moved to La.
An umbrella policy actually saved me a few hundred bucks a year.

I carry a 1M umbrella on top of that. Have since I was a single ruffian running around BR tearing shite up in my 20s
300/300 is the minimum coverage for umbrella with Geico. The difference between that and my current coverage is minimal. We talking like $100 every 6 months if that.

I also used to live across from a Maserati and Porsche dealership. I carried high property limits because of that

If you have full collision insurance, health insurance, and a job where you wouldn't have lost wages from hospitalization, then what is the advantage to UM?
Not being contrary. Really want to know.

Deductible (although medpay could also cover that) and pain and suffering. Loss of earnings capacity would also be covered but that’s usually only in play with surgeries for manual laborers.

I get mileage reimbursed and my company requires certain coverages in order to be reimbursed.
